The garden that has for years many
been reared relished and cherished
lawns in splendid green
with throngs of grass lilting and swaying
as benevolence supreme
is ransacked right in front of your eyes
and red-soil
yellow ‘Aralai’
and ‘Jalli’ are being heaped there.

The most cruel part of it all
Alas
performing the ritual of
lighting the camphor
soaking in kumkum
placing under one corner
of the road engine
that is to level the road
the lemon plucked from the lone tree
remaining there
is thrust upon me.

கருணை
உனக்கெனவே
பச்சை பசேலென
புட்கள் கூட்டம் குதூகலிக்க
பல்லாண்டாய்
நிர்மாணித்துக்காத்த
நந்தவனம்தான்
கண்ணெதிரே சூறையாடப்பட்டு
செம்மண்ணும்
மஞ்சள் அரளையும்
ஜல்லியும் கொட்டப்படுகிறது

ஆகப்பெரும் கொடுமை
நிரவ இருக்கும்
ரோலருக்கு அடியில்
ஓரமாய் மிச்சமான
ஒற்றை மரத்திலிருந்து பறித்த
எலும்பிச்சையை
குங்குமம் தோய வைத்து
வணங்கி சூடம் காட்ட
நானே நிர்பந்திக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதுதான்.

RIVER

Absolutely baffling

the way that Space getting filled up

In the lengthy river’s desert of
too long a distance
so very much floating and rambling
the Mirage.

Profusely sweating
am returning home
feeling relieved
at least it is seen
for now.

நதி

எப்படி
நிரம்புகிறதெனத்தெரியவில்லை
அவ்வெளி

நீள்ஆற்றின்நெடுந்தொலைவின்பாலையில்
அப்படிமிதந்தலைகிறது
கானல்நீர்

வியர்வைவழிய
வீடுதிரும்பிகொண்டிருக்கிறேன்
இப்போதைக்கு
அதாவதுதென்படுகிறதேயென்ற
ஆறுதலுடன்.
