Parrots captured in forest,
the hunter sells in the town
He severs their wings
for the fortune-teller to give predictions
The birds thus imprisoned in cages
forget the sky and the forest
In course of time
the parrots that come out of the cage
to give predictions
as soon as they take out a card
get into the cage and turn themselves into captives.
Worse still
as days pass they forget their inherent flying.
Women who turn cooks after wedding
do forget reading and learning
The parrots begin to live in the cages
being more comfortable than women.
In a way though the cages of women are bigger
than that of parrots
they find it difficult to fly.
Damned are these lot.
Till they die,
closed their cages remain.

சிறகுகளற்றதா பறவை
காட்டில் பிடித்து வரும் கிளிகளை வேடன் நாட்டில் விற்கிறான்
ஜோசியக்காரர்கள் ஆருடம் சொல்வதற்கு
அவைகளின் சிறகுகளை வெட்டி விடுகிறான்
கூண்டில் அடைக்கப்பட்ட பறவைகள்
காலப்போக்கில் ஆகாசத்தையும் காட்டையும் மறந்துவிடுகின்றன
சிறு தானியங்களுக்காக கூண்டிலிருந்து
வெளியே வரும் ஆருடக் கிளிகள் சீட்டை எடுத்ததும்
கூண்டுக்குள் தாமே அடைபட்டுக் கொள்கின்றன
நாட்கள் செல்லச் செல்ல அவைகள் பறத்தலையும் மறந்து விடுகின்றன என்பது தான்
ஆகப் பெரும் கொடுமை
சமையல்காரிகளாக திருமணத்திற்கு பின் ஆகும் பெண்கள் வாசித்தலையும் ,படித்தலையும்
மறந்து தான் விடுகின்றனர்
கிளிகள் பெண்களை விட வசதியாகவே
கூண்டில் அடைபட்டு வாழத் தொடங்கிவிடுகின்றன
ஒரு வகையில் கிளிகளை விட
பெண்களின் கூண்டுகள் பெரிதாக இருந்தாலும்
பறக்க முடிவதில்லை
இப்படியான பெண்கள் பாவப்பட்டவர்களே
இவர்களின் கூண்டுகள் மரணிக்கும் வரை
திறக்கப்படுவதேயில்லை
