A DIALOGUE ON DREAMS

During one summer noontime

we were there sitting and chatting
about dreams continuing to be dreams alone
Till date why dreams remaining as dreams - there arise a question.
Haven’t we acted in earnest
for making dreams come true
Or, being considerate, allowing them to remain as just dreams
Or, in the grand design of Time
dreams as dreams remain
Who knows this magic chant
With the help of dreams we create more dreams
Is it because dreamless life is indeed devoid of
meaning.
Does anyone ponder over with care
the abstract form of dream
It is due to some dream or other
that I keep holding a dialogue with thee
and you with me
conversing for the sake of some dream.
Even after the dialogue ends and we return home
we keep journeying with dreams
in our own directions.

கனவுகள் பற்றிய உரையாடல்

ஒரு வெயில் காலத்து மத்திய பொழுதில் அமர்ந்து பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தோம்
கனவுகள் கனவுகளாகவே நீடித்து கொண்டிருப்பதை பற்றி
இன்றளவும்
கனவுகள் கனவுகளாக இருப்பது எதனால்
கேள்வி எழுகிறது
கனவுகள் மெய்ப்பட
செயலில் இறங்கவில்லையா
அல்லது
கனவுகள் தானே
கனவோடு இருக்கட்டும் என்று கனிவாக இருந்து விட்டோமா
இல்லை காலத்தின் கோலத்தில் கனவுகள் கனவுகளாக நீடித்து கொண்டிருக்கின்றனவா
யார் அறிவார்
இந்த மாயமந்திரத்தை.
கனவை கொண்டு இன்னும்
கனவை உற்பத்தி செய்து கொண்டேயிருக்கிறோம்
கனவு அற்ற வாழ்வு
அர்த்தமற்ற வாழ்வு
என்பதாலா
யாராவது நினைத்து
பார்க்கிறார்களா என்ன
கனிவாக கனவின் மாயரூபத்தை
ஏதோ ஒருசில கனவின் பொருட்டே பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறேன்
உன்னோடு நான்
நீயும் அவ்விதமே
கனவின் பொருட்டே
என்னோடு உரையாடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறாய்
உரையாடல் முடிந்து
வீட்டுக்கு திரும்பியும்
கனவுகளோடு
பயணித்து கொண்டிருக்கிறோம்

FAREWELL, FATHER…

(*in memory of my father)

Father, Dear Father, My Dear Father
If father is not there
Life of children would go haywire
Living God, the Earth that bears our burden
in all concern
The lighthouse guiding his off-springs
If he were not there, 
the course of children would change direction.
He had silently borne all his hardships
Never had he shed tears
Never left us uncared
as load to be discarded
For the tree planted to grow well
The root of hope so strong was he
The foremost teacher.
Ah yes, he is called Father
Our clan-deity who safeguards us from slipping and falling
Live thee well, bringing glory to his name
And the world would bless you with success and fame.

[அப்பாவின் நினைவு நாள் இன்று.அவர் நினைவுகள் நெஞ்சில் நிழலாடுகிறது.
அவர் நினைவாக ஒரு பாடல்]

அப்பா அப்பா அப்பா
அப்பா இல்லா விட்டால்
பிள்ளைகள் வாழ்வு போய்விடும் தப்பா
வாழும் சாமி நம் சுமையை சுகமாய் தாங்கும் பூமி
பிள்ளைகளுக்கு வழிகாட்டும்
கலங்கரை விளக்கு
இவர் இல்லாவிட்டால்
மாறுமே பிள்ளைகள் போக்கு.
பட்டகஷ்டத்தை வெளியே
சொன்னதும் இல்லை
அழுது பார்த்ததும் இல்லை
சுமை என்று ஒருநாளும்
நம்மல ஒதுக்கனதும் இல்லை
நட்ட மரம் போல் நல்லா செழித்து வளர
நம்பிக்கை வேராய்
இருந்தவரு
முதல் கல்விஆசான்
யாரு அவருக்கு அப்பா என்னும் பேரு.
நம் தடுமாறி விழாமல் காவல் காத்த குலச்சாமி
அவர் பேர் நிலைக்க நன்றாய் வாழ்ந்து காண்பி.
வாழ்த்துமே நம்மை பூமி.
