In that house

so far

at least twenty families would have lived

At least ten marriages

would have taken place

Umpteen number of times lovemaking

would have taken place

The birth of so many children

would have taken place.

Music concerts, dance performances also

would have taken place.

Quarrels disputes peace and amity

would have taken place

All and more

are

concealed to the core

by its present name _

The Ruined Home.

அந்த வீட்டில் இதுவரை
இருபது குடும்பங்களாவது வாழ்ந்திருக்கும்
பத்துத் திருமணங்களாவது நிகழ்ந்திருக்கும்
எண்ணற்ற புணர்ச்சிகள் இடம்பெற்றிருக்கும்
எத்தனையோகுழந்தைகள் பிறந்திருக்கும்
பாட்டுக்கச்சேரிகள் நடனங்கள்கூட அரங்கேறியிருக்கும்
சண்டைகள்ச ச்சரவுகள் சமாதானங்கள்
பலவும் நிகழ்ந்திருக்கும்
இவ்வளவையும் மூடிமறைத்து விட்டது
பாழடைந்த வீடு என்ற இப்போதைய பெயர்.

(2) JOY UNLEASHED

The bit of paper that came rolling softly

on the seashore sand

Upon touching her feet

hopping and jumping, rolled on..

For touching her a split-second

such ecstatic lilting and leaping means

how so much would it be for the sand

that keeps sticking to her feet!

குதூகலம்

கடற்கரை மணலில்

மெல்ல உருண்டுவந்த காகிதம்

அவள் காலைத் தொட்டதும்

துள்ளலும் குதிப்புமாகத்

தோடர்ந்து உருண்டு சென்றது.

ஒரு கணம் தொட்டதுக்கே இவ்வளவு

துள்ளலானால்

அவளின் காலில் ஒட்டியபடியிருக்கும்

மணலுக்கு எப்படியிருந்திருக்கும்!
