ILAMPIRAI

 A POEM BY

ILAMPIRAI

LET THERE REMAIN OPEN A LITTLE

A TINY WINDOW STILL

If you feel like detesting or dismissing someone
Please go on
If that person
is affectionate towards you
Just pause for a while
Just as throwing those pebbles
gathered with immense love
from the river where water
of thousands of years flows on
into another one more ancient
so deep down
that couldn’t be hauled again _
throw away your memories
softly O softly
with care and concern
After blocking it with iron-planks
and so barricading
please don’t cover them urgently; adroitly.
with such urgency; so exhaustively
Let there be tiny water-drops
scattering for a while.
Please don’t bang the doors shut
All at once.
Let there remain opened a little
a tiny window still
Don’t go on pouring fire
forever
Suffice to have a piece of ember
For flames to rage on
Without swooning
with the thunderous silence
proving unbearable
Spell out the errors
and part ways
with a ‘Fare Thee Well.
always
Try giving this minimum compassion
at least
as a parting gift to the other one
Please.
For
No matter what -
The Other One loves Thee
you see.....
