CHECKMATE

Of course you got free

free of cost

and at times borrowed

my painting brush

which I had cherished

as treasure secured

after crossing

seven seas

undergoing hardships aplenty.

Even now you can smell and feel

my sweat and blood

in its edges.

My Friend, a Male one to be specific _

Whenever you asked

I hesitated not.

And, placing it in the casket of love

and trust

have I entrusted it in your hands

in a dignified manner.

But you are bent on painting in myriad hues

and shades

The gigantic posters of those

hatemongers

who are all out to snatch

and suppress my wings’ radiance

and my proud countenance

standing tall with head held high.

And you keep on going on and on

mixing oil-paints

More and more

relishing it all.

Yatshi’s space

spreads far and wide

surpassing your imagination.

Sad indeed

You keep going round and round

in the narrow circle drawn by

your own self.

Climbing the wall

the ball of betrayal

would hit the face hard without fail.

Till then let’s keep playing

this game of Lambs and Tigers..

இலவசமாகத்தான் வாங்கிச் சென்றாய்

சிலபோது இரவலாகவும்...

ஏழு கடல் தாண்டி

எத்தனையோ பாடுகள்பட்டு

தேடிக் கண்டடைந்த திரவியமாய்

நான் பாதுகாத்து வைத்திருந்த தூரிகையை

இப்போதும்கூட அதன் ஓரங்களில்

என் வியர்வையை, ரத்தப் பிசுபிசுப்பை

முகர்ந்து ஸ்பரிசிக்கலாம்...

நண்பனே,

நீ கேட்டபோதெல்லாம் தயங்கியதேயில்லை

நேசத்தின், நம்பிக்கையின் பெட்டகத்தில் வைத்துத்தான்

நானதைக் கௌரவமாய்க் கையளித்தேன்...

ஆனால் நீயோ

எப்போதும் என் சிறகின் ஒளிர்வை...

எனது நிமிர்வை

ஒவ்வாமையோடு பறித்து ஒடுக்க முனைவோரின்

பென்னாம்பெரிய சுவரொட்டிகளையே

நீர்வண்ணங்கள் குழைத்துக் குழைத்து

திரும்பத் திரும்ப விரும்பி ரசித்து

தீட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறாய்...

யட்சியின் "வெளி"

உன் கற்பனையைவிட அகன்று பரந்தது

பாவம் நீ...

நீயாக வரைந்த குறுவட்டத்திற்குள்

உழன்று திரிகிறாய்...

சுவரெறியும் துரோகப் பந்து

முகத்தைப் பதம் பார்த்தே தீரும்

அதுவரை விளையாடித் தீர்ப்போம்
