FATHER’S CYCLE

Fifty-five years of classic camaraderie

between Father and his bicycle.

The very first vehicle bought out of his salary.

Every Saturday it would also have oil-bath.

Being alone

both of them would be chitchatting

Father’s secrets _ It knows them all!

When we taking it for learning cycling

fell down

Father caressed it

was all concerned about it

It is this cycle that he continues to ride on

even after losing one leg

in an accident

Just the way father has borne us

the cycle carries him untiringly

with zest and fervour

always.

அப்பாவின் சைக்கிள்

அப்பாவின் சைக்கிளுக்கும்

அவருக்கும் ஐம்பத்தைந்து

வருடத் தோழமை.

அவரது சம்பாத்தியத்தில்

முதல் வாகனம்.

சனிக்கிழமை தோறும் அதற்கும்

எண்ணெய்க் குளியல்.

இருவரும் தனிமையில்

உரையாடிக் கொள்வார்கள்.

அதற்குத் தெரியாத

அப்பாவின் இரகசியங்கள்

என்று ஒன்றும் இல்லை.

நாங்கள் கற்றுக் கொள்ள எடுத்துத்

தவறிக் கீழேவிழுந்தபோதும்

வாஞ்சையுடன் அதனைத்தான்

தடவிக் கொடுத்தார்.

விபத்தொன்றில் காலிழந்து

செயற்கைக் கால் பொருத்தப்பட்ட

பின்னரும்

அவர் ஓட்டும் ஒரே வாகனம்

அந்த சைக்கிள் தான்.

அப்பா எங்களைச் சுமந்தது போலவே

சலிப்பேதுமின்றி

அப்பாவை சுமக்கிறது சைக்கிள்.
