This path

Is of significance supreme.

In an eight-feet leap

A deer’s trail

In a nine feet leap

A cheetah’s trail

A worm has crawled

Near that the trail of a bird’s beak

The trail of ants in row

The trail of speeding wind

The trail of a monkey

that has saved its infant

from its own clan.

The trail of oxen

dragging the cart.

The trail of stealing

the honeycomb

in order to shield all trails

with a lone cover

he sprinkles

green ink all over.

Along the trail of waterfall

that till then was laughing in fury

slowly comes to be

the trail of a sob.

Now someone asks

Is this passage

that significant?

Except the echo

no sound; nor light.

மா.காளிதாஸ்

இந்தப் பாதை

அவ்வளவு முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்தது.

எட்டடி பாய்ச்சலில்

ஒரு மானின் தடம்

ஒன்பதடி பாய்ச்சலில்

ஒரு சிறுத்தையின் தடம்

ஒரு புழு நகர்ந்திருக்கிறது

அதனருகில் பறவையின் அலகுத் தடம்

எறும்புத்தொடர் தடம்

அதிவேகக் காற்றின் தடம்

தன் குட்டியை

தன் இனத்திடமிருந்தே காத்த

குரங்கின் தடம்

வண்டியிழுத்த எருதின் தடம்

தேனடை திருடிய தடம்

இத்தனை தடங்களையும்

ஒரே போர்வையால் மூடத் தெளிக்கிறான்

பச்சை மை.

அதுவரை ஆங்காரமாகச் சிரித்த

அருவியின் பாதையில்

மெல்லப் பதிகிறது

ஒரு விசும்பலின் தடம்.

இப்போது யாரோ கேட்கிறார்கள்

இந்தப் பாதை

அவ்வளவு முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்ததா?

எதிரொலியைத் தவிர

வேறெந்த ஒலியுமில்லை, ஒளியுமில்லை.
