WORDS WITHHELD….

Yesterday

Or a year before

Or an eon ago

When remains unclear

Calling your number

I talked to thee

It was not in the least like

talking to thee

While taking the number out of memory

one digit must have gone wrong

Or

one of those six lookalikes of thee

yet there in the world to see

must have spoken in your voice

Not even two minutes

the connection went off

midway

“When you get time

you would call me again’

thought I and remained

not calling back.

But the magical receptacle

that would bring to life

Your voice at will

never sounded again.

In the silence growing dense

and overflowing

With seas coming in between

continents moving apart

each other not being able to hear

our voices of short wavelength

we remained quiet at length

In this great grand silence

with speech subdued as a whole

tranquility I inhale.

பேசாத பேச்செல்லாம்

முன் தினமோ

முந்தைய வருடமோ

முன்னொரு யுகமோ

உறுதியாய் தெரியவில்லை,

உனது எண்ணிற்கு அழைத்து

உன்னிடம் பேசினேன்.

உன்னோடு பேசியது போலவே இல்லை.

நினைவினின்றும் ஒற்றியெடுக்கையில்

ஒரெண் பிழையாகியிருக்கக் வேண்டும்

அல்லால்

உனது சாயலில்

உலகில் இன்னுமிருக்கும்

அறுவரில் ஒருவர்

உன் குரலில் பேசியிருக்கவும் கூடும்

இரு நிமிட நேரம்கூட இருக்காது

இடையிலேயே தொடர்பறுந்து போயிற்று.

வேளை வரும்போது

மீளவும் அழைப்பாயென எண்ணி

வாளாவிருந்தேன்.

வேண்டும்போதெல்லாம்

உனது குரலை

உயிர்ப்பித்துத் தருமந்த

மந்திரச் சிமிழ்

மறுபடியும் ஒலிக்கவேயில்லை.

அடர்ந்து பெருகிய அமைதியில்

கடல்கள் இடைபட்டு

கண்டங்கள் விலகிப் போக

குறுகிய அலைநீளம் கொண்ட

நம் குரல்களை

பரஸ்பரம் செவியுறவும் வழியற்று

மெளனம் பூண்டோம்.

பேச்சொடுங்கிய இப்பேரமைதியில்

மூச்சாய் இழைகிறது

குறுகிய அலைவரிசை என்பதற்கு short wavelength சரிதானா என்று கூகுளில் பார்க்கும்போது அதில் கிடைத்த பொருள் அந்த வார்த்தைத்தேர்வின் அடர்செறிவைப் புலப்படுத்தியது!
