Of those droplets of night

that have trickled

wonder in which droplet

this dawn would have been born

Wonder whether the birds

have dispersed

without hearing the sound

of the last droplet falling?

Wonder whether the Moon

at times, watching the night fall

drop by drop

would have counted it all.

Wonder how many drops are there

in a night

altogether....

ஒழுகித் தீர்ந்த

இரவின் துளியின்

எத்தனையாவது துளியில்

புலர்ந்திருக்குமோ

இந்த அதி காலை

கடைசித் துளி

விழுந்த சப்தம் கேட்காமலா

கலைந்திருக்கும் பறவைகள்

சில வேளை

ஒவ்வொரு துளியாக

இரவு உதிர்வதை பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்த

நிலவு எண்ணியிருக்குமோ

இரவின் மொத்த துளிகள் எத்தனையாக இருக்கக் கூடும்
