Yes Mother
Life is not easy
Miles to go
Many more steps, staircase
Bends and turns myriad
But, what are these
You have never said anything openly
Here in front of me also
stretches a luminous path
I would cross it, for sure
Just as thee, Mother.
ஆம் அம்மா
வாழ்க்கை சுலபமானதல்ல
இன்னும் நிறைய தூரம்
நிறைய படிக்கட்டுகள்
நிறைய வளைவுகள் திருப்பங்கள்
ஆனால் இதெல்லாம் என்ன
இதை குறித்து
நேரிடையாக நீ ஏதும்
சொன்னதில்லை
இதோ என் முன்பும்
நீள்கிறது ஓர் ஒளிப்பாதை
அதை நிச்சயம் கடப்பேன்
உன்னைப் போலவே

In the room of the city
where plasters keep peeling
I remain confined.
In the pricking heat
flowing down from the roof
I am reading the poem
on Mother’s Sari.
Time with utmost nothingness,
everyone living in their own worlds
In the heat of the day
the smell of scorched existence.
That which is called a life of strife
is like the sari swaying in the wind
as multitudes of waves,
between Mother and her.
காரைகள் உதிரும்
நகரத்தின் அறையில்
அடைந்து கிடக்கிறேன்
கூரையிலிருந்து
கோடையில் வழியும்
தைக்கும் வெப்பத்தில்
அம்மாவின் சேலை
பற்றிய கவிதையை பற்றி
படித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறேன்
வெறுமை முற்றிய காலம்
அவரவர் உலகில் வாசம்
நாளின் தகிப்பில்
ஆயுள் கருகும் வாசம்
அல்லாடும் வாழ்க்கை
என்பது
அம்மாவுக்கும் அவளுக்கும்
நடுவில்
அலை அலையாய்
காற்றில் ஆடும் சேலை
போல
ஹவி ஹவி
