WOMEN TALKING TO TREES

Three women

Standing under a tree

Were pointing at the tree and talking

Of them one woman stretches her finger

And saying something laughs

I watch them from a little distance away.

I could see nothing.

Leaves were swaying

No sign of nests

There was no bird sitting

Their chitchatting went on unabated

Does the tree conceal a secret

Does it appear differently to

men and women

does it appear differently to adolescents

and married ones

are they watching the tree

or the tree relishing the sight of them?

While conversing

Why does one woman blush?

மரங்களிடம் பேசும் பெண்கள்

மூன்று பெண்கள்

மரத்தினடியில் நின்றுக்கொண்டு

மரத்தைக்காட்டி பேசுகிறார்கள்

அதிலொரு பெண் விரல் நீட்டி

ஏதோ சொல்லி சிரிக்கின்றாள்

சற்று தூரத்திலிருந்து பார்க்கின்றேன்

எதுவும் தென்படவில்லை

இலைகள் அசைந்துக்கொண்டிருந்தது

கூடுகள் இருந்தது போலவும் தெரிய வில்லை

பறவை எதுவும் அமர்ந்திருக்கவில்லை

பேச்சு குறைந்திடவில்லை

மரம் ரகசியத்தை மறைக்கின்றதா

பெண்களுக்கு ஒரு மாதிரியும்

ஆண்களுக்கொரு மாதிரியும் தெரிகிறதா

விடலைப் பையன்களுக்கு ஒரு மாதிரியும்

மணமானவர்களுக்கு ஒரு மாதிரியும் தெரிகிறதா

மரத்தை அவர்கள் பார்க்கிறார்களா

மரம் அவர்களைப்பார்த்து ரசிக்கின்றதா

மரத்திற்கும் பெண்களுக்குமான
