In the empty classroom

Bharathi remained alone

The moustache sprouted on the table

was muttering the elegies of a bygone era.

Within the silence-swallowing Silence Supreme

one by one entered and exited.

Each pair of eyes kept on staring

in attachment unabated

The characters that came to life

as Gugan

Mariyaall

Salma

casting a keen look upon

the wall clock

From the battery that worked no more

a loud wail exploded.

From the shrubs that have eaten the void

that creates graveyards

a sound went on resonating.

வெறிச்சோடிய வகுப்பறையில்

பாரதி தனித்திருந்தான்

மேசையில் முளையவிட்ட மீசை

முடிந்துபோன காலமொன்றின்

இரங்கல் பாடல்களை முணுமுணுத்தபடியிருந்தது

அமைதியை விழுங்கிய பேரமைதிக்குள்

ஒருவர் பின் ஒருவராய்

வந்து போயினர்

ஒவ்வொரு சோடிக்கண்களும்

தணிந்துபோகாத பற்றுதலில்

வெறித்தபடியிருந்தன

குகனும்

மரியாளும்

சல்மாவுமாய்

உயிர்பெற்ற பாத்திரங்கள்

சுவர்க்கடிகாரை உற்றுப்பார்கையில்

நின்றுபோன பற்றரிக்குள்ளிருந்து

ஒரு துடி அழுகை பீறிட்டெழுந்தது

மயானவெளிகளை உருவாக்கும் வெறுமையைத் தின்ற

புதருக்குள்ளிருந்தும்

ஓர் அரவம் இசைத்தபடியிருந்தது
