GOALS AND DESTINATIONS

My voyages are incessant

My legs are my compasses
Paths untrodden they keep seeking
persistently
Legs know not distinctions such as day and night
Few are their needs alright
A pair of good footwear
A seat to repose at times
and, a mouthful of food

Mostly the legs do not converse with the eyes
so as not to turn afraid
Except alerting if some hurdle on the way
Legs never ask the eyes any aid.

Otherwise the legs conversed with
the heart alone
as pals wandering with hands
around each other’s shoulder
The latter an expert
in concealing feelings and emotions
perturbed and turbulent
Never ever transfer them to the legs
Instead, it would hasten them
towards goals and destinations.

The places scenes and people
reached by the legs
offered in surplus
nourishment and delight
required by the heart.
Only thing, it took more time
for digestion.

In each voyage
heart full of friends and scenes
In the next one
another set of friends
different panoramas
all that the legs need are
goals and destinations
All others
are but driving force
for reaching them in due course.

இலக்குகள்

என் பயணங்கள் இடையறாதவை
கால்கள்தான் என் திசைமானிகள்
தவழாத புதிய தடங்களைத்
தேடித்தேடி அலைகின்றன.
இரவு பகலெல்லாம் கால்களுக்கு ஏது
அவற்றின் தேவைகளும் பெரியதில்லை
ஒரு ஜோடி நல்ல காலணிகளும்
இளைப்பாற அவ்வப்போது ஒரு இருக்கையும்
அப்புறம் கொஞ்சம்போல உணவும்.
கண்களோடு கால்கள் பெரும்பாலும் பேசுவதில்லை
பயத்தைத் திணித்துவிடும் என்பதால்.
பாதையில் ஏதேனும் தடையிருந்தால்
சுட்டுவதைத் தவிர
வேறெதற்கும் கண்களிடம்
உதவி கேட்பதில்லை.
மற்றபடி கால்கள் மனதோடு மட்டுமே பேசின
தோள்களில் கைபோட்டு உலவும் தோழர்களைப்போல.
பதற்றங்களையும் உணர்வுகளையும்
மறைத்துக் கொள்வதில் தேர்ந்த மனது
அவற்றை ஒருபோதும் கால்களிடம் கடத்துவதில்லை.
மாறாக இலக்கை நோக்கி
துரிதப்படுத்தும்.
கால்கள் சென்றுசேர்ந்த
இடங்களும் காட்சிகளும் மனிதர்களும்
மனதுக்குத் தேவையான
தீனியையும் உற்சாகத்தையும்
அளவுக்கு அதிகமாகவே பரிமாறின
செரிமானம் செய்யத்தான் நேரம் பிடித்தது.
ஒவ்வொரு பயணத்திலும்
மனதில் நிறைந்த தோழர்களும் காட்சிகளும்.
அடுத்த பயணத்தில்
வேறொரு நட்புக்கூட்டமும்
மாறும் காட்சிகளும்.
கால்களுக்குத் தேவையென்னவோ இலக்குகள்தான்
மற்றவையெல்லாம் இலக்கை அடைவதற்கான
உந்துதல்கள் மட்டுமே.
