The heroic scars of leaping as high as

four feet plus

for a plastic cup

costing one rupee at the most

and tumbling down in the process

are dissolved with the

passage of Time.

Children today

know the way

of getting

Horse-dolls

Elephant-dolls

Toy-guns

James Bond dolls

Spiderman dolls

_ as suits their whims and fancies.

Hanging from atop the Tamarind tree

jumping from there

weeping wailing

insisting utmost

somehow they manage

to get them

at any cost.

தாண்டித் தாண்டி

விழுந்த விழுப்புண்கள்

காலத்தோடு கரைந்து போய்விட்டது

தற்போதைய குழந்தைகளில்

குதிரை பொம்மைகள்

யானை பொம்மைகள்

துப்பாக்கி பொம்மைகள்

ஜேம்ஸ் பாண்டு பொம்மைகள்

ஸ்பைடர் மேன் பொம்மைகள்

இப்படி ஆசைக்கு ஏற்ப

புளியங்கொம்பில் தொங்கி

குதித்து அழுது அடம்பிடித்து

எப்படியாவது வாங்கி விடுகிறது.
