WORDS CARRYING WEAPONS

About getting accustomed to living inside fire

we were discussing.

Surfacing all too suddenly from a familiar direction

blocked us some words aflame.

The words that were surrounding us till then

turned silent.

A little apprehensive

we were looking at each other.

In a flash the heat shrouding us burnt our skin

Tomorrow also the same fire would burn

We would also turn silent

The words with us would move a little away

Then for a long time

are but the clock hands alone

would be chitchatting

Tik …Tik…. Tik

You who are reading this poem now

sometimes you may have research-findings

on how to remove burning words.

We too have.

Some words would burn…

Some words would prove cold….

But never ever their names

are Fire or Snow, you know….

ஆயுதமேந்தும் சொற்கள்

நெருப்பினுள் வாழப் பழகுதல் பற்றி

உரையாடிக்கொண்டிருந்தோம்

தெரிந்த திசையொன்றில் இருந்து

தீடிரென வந்து எங்களை இடைமறித்தன

வெப்பம் நிறைந்த சில சொற்கள்

அதுவரையிலுமாக எங்களை சுற்றி இருந்த சொற்கள்

அமைதியாகின

சற்றே சலனத்தோடு

ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தோம்

சொடுக்கும் நேரத்துள் தோலைச் சுட்டது எங்களை சூழ்ந்த வெப்பம்

நாளையும் அதே நெருப்பு சுடும்

நாங்கள் அமைதியாவோம்

எங்களிடமிருக்கும் குழிர்நிறை சொற்கள் சற்று அகலும்

பின் நீண்ட நேரத்துக்கு டிக் டிக் என

பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கப்போவது

கடிகாரத்தின் முட்கம்பிகள் மட்டும்தான்

இப்போது இந்த கவிதையை வாசித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும் உங்களிடம்

சிலவேளைகளில் சூடான சொற்களை அகற்றுவது பற்றிய ஆய்வுக்குறிப்புகள் இருக்கலாம்,

எங்களிடமும் இருக்கின்றன.

சில சொற்கள் சுடும்

சில சொற்கள் குளிரும்

ஆனால் ஒருபோதும் அவற்றின் பெயர்கள் தீயோ பனியோ அல்ல.
