THE BROKEN PALMYRA

The daughter of the soil

Who was broken

For having given the Broken Palymra

Palmyra, the symbol of Mother Land

The cracks in the native land

Caused bloody river to flow on.

People’s rights were ruined in that soil.

Seeing that she ddidn’t turn diffident

Nor had she sought asylum abroad.

She feared not the river of blood

And went into hiding.

she stood tall and erect

having a heart of iron that willed

to tell the Truth and nothing but the Truth

to the world at large

the way things really happened

with no hype, nor lies

She documented the injustice done

So she was broken

Her body lying on the road all huddled

remains still there

as a memory causing pain utmost.

Ever alive in History she be

standing tall and erect

as a woman of exemplary grit

முறிந்த பனை!

முறிந்த பனை தந்ததால்

முறிந்து போன மண்ணின் மகள்.

பனை பிறந்த மண்ணின் குறியீடு!

பிறந்த மண்ணின் பிளவுகளால்

பாய்ந்தது இரத்தப் பேராறு.

மானுடர்தம் உரிமைகள் அம்

மண்ணில் சிதைந்தன.

அது கண்டு அவள்

அப்பால் ஓடியொளியவில்லை.

அயலகத்தில் புகலிடம் தேடவில்லை.

ஓடிய உதிர நதி கண்டு அவள்

ஓடி ஒளியவில்லை.

நிமிர்ந்த நன்னடையும்,

நேர்கொண்ட பார்வையுமாக

உயர்ந்து நின்றாள்.

உள்ளத்தில் உறுதி கொண்டே

உலகுக்கு

உள்ளதை, நடந்ததை எடுத்துரைத்தாள்

அநீதியை ஆவணப்படுத்தினாள்.

அதனால் அவளை முறித்தார்கள்.

வீதியில் குடங்கிக் கிடந்த அவளுரு

வலிதரும் நினைவாக

இன்னும் இருக்கிறது.

வரலாற்றில் இன்னும் வாழுமவள்

உரம்மிகு பெண்ணாக

உயர்ந்து நிற்கிறாள்.
