PENALTY

Eventually

the police officer
arrested my poem and dragged it away.

During interrogation
he had his eyes tied
dreading the sight of
Poem stark naked.

As the poem agreed
that causing crime was its
foremost vision and mission
Fine or Imprisonment
bail no chance
the judge pronounced
covering ears too
along with eyes two.

The new meanings of the words uttered
by the poem
shocked him to the core it seems.

Having no money to pay the fine
the poem put behind bars
stringing the bars
went on singing songs.
In course of time
the other convicts too
disrobed themselves
The new language used by them
turned the powers- that -be insane.

Lunacy that gripped the prison
gradually pervaded the entire region
In the city attained Nirvana
Thenceforth
No Government
No Family
No Culture
No Currency
No Sales
No Crime
and Punishment.

அபராதம்

இறுதியில்
காவல் அதிகாரி
என் கவிதையைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டுசென்றார்

விசாரணையின்போது அவர்
கண்களைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்
ஆடையில்லாத கவிதையைக் காண
அவருக்கு அச்சமாக இருந்ததாம்.

குற்றங்கள் விளைவிப்பதே
தனது தலையாய பணி என்பதை
கவிதை ஒத்துக்கொண்டால்
அபராதம் அல்லது சிறைத்தண்டனை
பிணை இல்லையென்று ஆணையிட்ட நீதிபதி
கண்களோடு காதுகளையும் பொத்திக்கொண்டிருந்தார்
கவிதை பேசிய சொற்களின் புதிய அர்த்தங்கள்
அவரை திடுக்கிடச் செய்தனவாம்.

அபராதம் கட்டப் பணம் இல்லாததால்
சிறையிலடைக்கப்பட்ட கவிதை
கம்பிகளை மீட்டிக்கொண்டு
சதா பாடல்களை இசைத்தபடியிருந்தது.
நாளடைவில் மற்ற கைதிகளும்
ஆடைகளைக் களைந்தனர்
அவர்கள் பேசத் தொடங்கிய புதிய மொழியால்
அதிகாரிகள் மனம் பிறழ்ந்தனர்

சிறைச்சாலைக்குப் பிடித்த பைத்தியம்
மெல்ல நகரமெங்கும் பரவியது.
நிர்வாணம் பெற்ற நகரத்தில்
அதன்பிறகு
அரசும் இல்லை
குடும்பமும் இல்லை
கலாசாரமு இல்லை
நாணயங்களும் இல்லை
விற்பனையும் இல்லை
குற்றமும் இல்லை
தண்டனையும் இல்லை.
