I obtained a colour today.

The tinge of yellow recalling Kondarpoo _

the Flower of Golden Shower.

Kalai’s favourite is the pale blue sky

For Prasanna the green of parrot

fluttering in her garden.

For Sukirtha

the lustre of love that she shares

everywhere.

For Dharmi

the gold of the glowing star.

For Preethi

the hue of never-ending long dream.

Jee’s colour is that of

the joyous laughter of violet flowers.

I turned a child

standing in front of a boon

that could be bestowed on none _

God’s Grace and Mercy

forever being topsy-turvy.

இன்றெனக்கு நிறமொன்று கிடைத்தது

கொண்டற் பூக்களை நினைவூட்டும் மஞ்சள்.

கலைக்குப் பிரியமானதோ

வெளிர் நீல வானம்

ப்ரஸன்னாவுக்கு

அவள் தோட்டத்தில் சிறகடிக்கும்

கிளிப் பச்சை

சுகிர்தாவுக்கு

அவள் பகிரும் அன்பின் ஒளிர்வு

தர்மிக்கு

ஒளிரும் நட்சத்திரத் தங்கம்

பிரதீக்கு

தீரா நெடுங்கனவின் நிறம்

ஜீயின் நிறமோ

ஊதா மலர்கள் குலுங்கும்

குதூகலச் சிரிப்பின் வண்ணம்

யாரிடமும் தர முடியாத

வரத்தின் முன்னே

நிற்கும் குழந்தையானேன்

கடவுளின் கிருபை எப்போதும் தாறுமாறானதாகவே இருக்கிறது.

Does the din and noise of the road

reduce the sound of the evening prayer

or is it the other way round

asked all too suddenly

God’s Child.

I couldn’t presume anything.

I asked those who came across.

They were in a great hurry

to escape from both bashing

each other.

The child asked the priest.

The Lord’s ears and heart

are so fine-tuned

as that of a swan, my girl

He knows everything, said the priest

and closed his eyes in prayer.

At the instant when the clamour

of the road

and the sound of the prayer

froze to the wail of an ambulance

the priest listening so focused

prayed once again

for the release from the danger

of the siren.

God who is past everything was speeding in the ambulance

with the grievance to be saved.

In the frozen moment

the child saw

the God of the World

and the World of the God.

மாலைப் பிரார்த்தனையொலியில்

வீதியிரைச்சல் தேய்கிறதா

வீதியிரைச்சலில்

பிரார்த்தனையொலி சிதைகிறதா

என்று திடீரெனக் கேட்டாள்

கடவுளின் குழந்தை

என்னால் எதையும் அனுமானிக்க முடியவில்லை

வழியில் செல்வோரிடம்

கேட்டேன்

இரண்டின் மோதலுக்கிடையிலும்

தப்பிச் செல்லும் அவசரம் அவர்களுக்கு

பிரார்த்தனைக் குருவிடம்

கேட்டாள் குழந்தை

கடவுளின் செவிகளும் இதயமும்

அன்னத்தின்

நுட்பத்திறன் பெற்றவை மகளே

அவரறிவார் ஏதொன்றையும் என்ற குரு

கண்களை மூடித் தியானித்தார்

அவ் வழியில் அம்புலன்ஸின் கதறலுக்கு

வீதியிரைச்சலும் பிரார்த்தனையொலியும்

ஸ்தம்பித்த கணத்தில்

விழிசுருக்கி உற்றாய்ந்த குரு

மீண்டும் பிரார்த்தித்தார்

அந்த ஒலியின் அபாயம் நீங்கட்டுமென

எல்லாவற்றையும் கடந்த கடவுளோ அம்புலன்ஸில்

விரைந்து கொண்டிருந்தார்

காத்தருள வேண்டுமென்ற பராதியோடு.

கண்டாள் குழந்தை

உலகின் கடவுளையும்

கடவுளின் உலகையும்
