DANGLING DESTINY

On one side of the oscillating rope up above

She

and on the other side her family’s hunger

The little girl dares to go past

the stomach of starvation

For the dance delirious of poverty

upon the rope hanging suspended

her ‘abinaya’ floating in the air

Inside the famished belly

the great ocean of acids raging furiously

In the tight clasp of her legs

as the great ocean crab's claws

the noose, not tightening the neck.

Holding a stick of destiny in her hands

She steadies herself..

Of the coins thrown into the plates

that shook the demonic life

pathetically apathetic

some are genuine.

Caught in the speeding time

some coins fall out and scatter

The merciless cruel tongues of hunger

Are all too eager to turn her a container

In the lust-filled piercing eyes

semblance of predators.

கயிற்றிலாடும் ஊழி

ஊசலாடும் உயரக் கயிற்றின்

ஒருபுறம் அவளும்

மறுபுறம் அவள் குடும்பத்தின் பசியும்.

கொடும் பசியின் வயிற்றினைக்

கடந்துவிடத் துணிகிறாள்

அச்சிறுமி

ஒரு அந்தரத்துக் கயிற்றில் .

வறுமையாடும் தாண்டவத்திற்கு

அவளின் அந்தரத்து அபிநயம்

தாளமிடும் பசிமிகு இரைப்பைக்குள்

அமிலப் பெருங்கடலின் ஆர்ப்பரிப்பு

பெருங்கடல் நண்டின்

கொடுக்குகளின் பிடியென

அவள் கால்களின் கிடுக்கிப்பிடிக்குள்

கழுத்தைச் இறுக்காத பாசக்கயிறு

ஊழியின் கழியொன்றைக்

கைகளில் பற்றிச்

சமன் செய்கிறாள்

பேயாடும் பற்றற்ற வாழ்வினை

குலுக்கிய தட்டுகளில்

விழும் சில்லறைகள்

சில நாணயமானவை

காலத்தின் ஓட்டத்தில்

சிதறித் தெறிக்கின்றன

சில சில்லறைகள்

அவளையே பாத்திரமாக்கத் துடிக்கும்

பசியின் ஈரமற்ற கோர நாவுகள்

துளைக்கும் கண்களின்

வேட்கைப் பார்வையிலே

வேட்டை மிருகத்தின் சாயல்.
