THE 7TH CHILD OF NATURE
From the 10th floor of the multi-storeyed building
where I live
I am evaluating the void of sky.
The songs of those birds living in the branches of trees
that are grown right up to the 8th floor
are heard in the 12th floor also.
The sound of the rain bringing down the raindrops
twirl and swirl as water-snakes upon the
dead leaves dropping off the trees in flutter.
In the stormy wind the leaves entering inside
through the window
sway as birds all over the room.
My cabin has turned a veritable woodland.
The tank fish leaping beyond the fibre glass
and search for the river inside the leaves.
In the water splashed
river trickles on the floor.
The doves that daily eat the bread slice
that I throw near my cabin
send back the weight of the wheat
to the field itself.
The city glows in electricity
The trees have kept hidden
the darkness of night.
Changing facets of day
Trees alone savour.
I too am
Nature’s 7th child.

மரங்களின் விழுகின்ற சலசலப்புக்களில் சருகுகளின்
மேல் நீர்ப்பாம்பாய் நீள்கின்றன.

பெருங்காற்றில் சாளரத்தின் வழியே
உள்நுழையும் இலைகள்
அறையெங்கும் பறவையாய் அசைகிறது.
ஒரு வனமாகிப் போனது என் வீடு.

தொட்டி மீன்கள்
கண்ணாடி இழை தாண்டி
துள்ளிக் குதித்து
இலைகளுள் நதியை தேடுகிறது.
தெறித்த நீரில் தரையில் கசிந்தது நதி.

அறை அருகே
நான் போட்ட ரொட்டித்துண்டையை
தினம் கொத்தி தின்னும் புறாக்கள்
கோதுமை மாவின் கனத்தை
வயல்வெளிக்கே திருப்பி கொண்டிருந்தன.
"
மின்னொளியில் ஒளிரும் நகரம்
இரவின் இருளை
மரங்கள் ஒளித்து வைத்திருந்தது.
பொழுதுகளை
மரங்கள் மட்டுமே ரசிக்கிறது.

நானும்
