Keeping rice for the crows in a place not wet

Covering the dog that lies shivering on the floor, with a sack

Going to the cardboard-thatched house of the differently-abled person

living with his aged parents

I called them to come to my house that leaks not.

Saying wholeheartedly

‘Suffice to have you thus care for us’

they gave a cup of tea

Gulping the love in it

in the rainwater that flows all over the land

in the sand lined as the nerves of earth

splashing the water with my feet

I walked a little distance in the rain

in gay abandon.

In this all too dense darkness

where one can’t see the rain-clouds

coming as a cluster of buffaloes

the frogs’ song is sounding as

solitary music.

Today an explicit storm

is going to cross the shore it seems.

In this deadly quietude

_ calm before storm

alas, why the scream of the cow

sounding too loud

has not reached its master still?

Could it be that he too is standing somewhere

all drenched?

Is it because of the fact that

whenever the rain pours

in all splendour

upon the earth

there would invariably be

scenes of miseries

Rain the Merciful

closes its eyes and darkens...

நனையாத இடத்தில்

காகங்களுக்கு

அரிசி வைத்து

குளிரில் நடுங்கிப் படுத்திருந்த

நாய்க்கு கோணிப்பை போர்த்திவிட்டு

அட்டையால் வேய்ந்த வீட்டில்

முதிய பெற்றோருடன் வசிக்கும்

மாற்றுத் திறனாளி

வீட்டிற்குப்போய்

ஒழுகாத எமது வீட்டிற்கு

வந்துவிடும்படி அழைத்தேன்.

அழைத்ததே போதும் என்று

தேநீர் தந்த அவர்களின்

அன்பைப் பருகி

நிலமெங்கும் வழிந்தோடும்

மழை நீரில்

பூமியின் நரம்புகளாக

கோடிட்டிருந்த மண்ணில்

நீரைத் தெத்தி தெத்தி

தூறலில் சற்று

நடந்து மகிழ்ந்தேன்.

வானில் அழகிய

எருமைக்கூட்டங்களாக

வந்து கொண்டிருந்த

கார்மேகங்களையும்

காண முடியாத இப்பேரிருளில்

தனி இசையாக

ஒலித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது

தவளைகளின் பாடல்.

இன்று

வெளிப்படையான

புயல் ஒன்றும்

கரையை கடக்க

இருக்கிறதாம்.

காற்றிற்கு முன்பான

கனக்க வைக்கும்

இப்பேரமைதியில்

கத்திக்கொண்டிருக்கிற

ஒரு பசுவின் அலறல்

அதன் எஜமானனுக்கு

ஏன் இன்னும் கேட்கவில்லை

நனைந்து நிற்பானோ

எங்கேனும் அவனும்.

மண்ணில் நிறைவாக

பொழிகின்றபோதெல்லாம்

இன்னல் காட்சிகளும்

எதிர்படும் என்பதால்தான்

கண்களை மூடி

கருத்துக்கொள்கிறதோ

இக்கருணை வான்.!
