Despite searching
too many a time
probing farther
in the heap of corpses
he was not to be found.
Going on hunger strike
holding aloft a placard
thus in numerous non-violent ways
I searched.
All these grim and frowning
the global leaders stomached
You were the one who had instilled
lots of hopes in me.
The one who had uprooted slavery
and thrown it off.
The one who had taught the significance
of individual liberty
You were the one who trained me
to live as I
when you were not by my side.
Whenever my feet touch this soil
I would roll down in this grand space
filled with your memory.
I would strive to embrace this land
The fragrance of the soil
I would stuff into my heart
as something so sacred.
Eager to see you
I become restless and breathless.
The East to be seen
thanks to thee
is inside me.
I turning into a painting
in the metaphor you brought into being
All these and more
would thrive
as you arrive.
Discarding feelings and
using dreams as balms _
I shun this ploy
all the way.
He is somewhere faraway.

இன்னும் தொலைவில்.
பிணக்குவியலுக்குள்
பலமுறை தேடியும்
அவன் கிடைக்கவில்லை.
பட்டினி கிடந்து
பதாதைச்சுமந்து
பல அகிம்ஷை வழியில்
தேடினேன்..
இவையனைத்தையும்
தலைவர்களும்
உலகமும் உம்மென
சகித்துக்கொண்டது.
என் இதயத்துக்குள்
பல நம்பிக்கைகள்
ஊட்டியவன் நீ.
அடிமைத்தனத்தை
வேருடன் பிடுங்கி எரிந்தவன்.
தனி மனித சுதந்திரத்தின்
சூட்சுமத்தை கற்பித்து சென்றவன்.
நீ இல்லை என்ற பொழுதில்
நான் நானாக வாழ
பயிற்றுவித்தவன்.
மண்ணில்
கால்கள் படும்போதெல்லாம்
உன் நினைவால்
இப் பெருவெளியில் புரள்வேன்.
நிலத்தை கட்டி அணைக்க முயல்வேன்.
மண்ணின் வாசத்தை
மகத்துவமாய் நெஞ்சுள் திணிப்பேன்.
உன்னை காணும் வேகத்தில்
என்னுள் பரபரப்பு,
உன்னால் காணப்போகும் கிழக்கு எனக்குள்,
நீ வடித்த படிமத்துள்
நான் ஓவியமாதல்
இத்தனையும் உன் வரவால்
மிளிரும்.
உணர்வுகளை புறம் தள்ளி
கனவுகளில் ஒத்தடம்போடும்
ஜாலத்தை தள்ளுகிறேன்.
அவன் எங்கோ தொலைவில்.
