BEYOND

The buffaloes in the byre bellowing upon the quietude before dawn

I listen to.

Then the cawing of crows.

And also

In these days when the sparrows have become extinct

the sound of those times when they sat upon branches

would be heard

Somewhere the call of a cell singing and subsiding

the speeding parrots’ chitchat would shoot as arrows

with the direction unable to spot

the approaching sound of human

would be heard as a secret

Then slowly

from a far off lane

the dog’s bark would echo.

Beyond all these

in the paling direction’s insipid glow

I would hear

a bud opening in the creeper at the entrance;

Her snowy footsteps.

வைகறைக்கு முந்தைய அமைதியின்மேல்

தொழுவத்து எருமைகள் முக்காரமிடுவதைக் கேட்பதுண்டு

பின்பு

கரையும் காகங்கள்

உடன்

நெற்குருவிகள் அழிக்கப்பட்டுவிட்ட இந்நாட்களில்

அவை

கிளைக்கவைகளில் அமர்ந்தெழுந்தவேளையின் ஓசை எழும்

சிலபோது

எங்கோ ஓர் கைப்பேசி அழைப்பு இசைத்தடங்க

விரையும் கிளிகளின் பேச்சு அம்புகளெனப் பாயும்

திசையைச் சொல்லமுடிந்திராதவாறு

இரகசியம்போலக் கேட்கும் மனித அரவம்

பின் மெல்ல

தூரத் தெருவிலிருந்து எதிரொலிக்கும்

நாய்க்குரைப்பு

இத்தனைக்கும் அப்பால்

நாளின்

வெளிர்கிற திசையின் மங்கலில் கேட்பேன்

வாசற்கொடியில்

மலர் ஒன்றின் முகையவிழ்வதை

அவள் பனிக் காலடிகளை
