A POEM BY

I enter through the doors
someone had thrown open.
Ruined to the core
the forty year ancient tomb where
Jacques Prevert was in slumber
“It was you who woke me up last night _yes?
What do you want, tell me”
While asking the cigarette
tucked inside the lips
was unsteady
like the fingers of an old man
like those of a drunkard
of one raging in anger
He asked me whether I would like to have
a cigarette
Words Words I mumbled
‘What words’ he thundered.
Are all prisoners criminals
Why does the Sun not shine for them
asked I resolutely.
In that hairline pause ere
those words of Prevert
entering my ear
marched past
a few revolutionaries
with puzz oozing out of their blood-drained
frozen bodies.
The pens of those others
who sitting in an open space
write
that everything is alright
never jot down about those
in dark dungeons confined
he reproached.

யாரோ திறந்துபோட்டுவிட்ட
கதவுகள் ஊடே நுழைகிறேன்
தகர்க்கப்பட்டிருந்தது
ழாக் ப்ரெவர் தூங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்த
நாப்பது வருட பழமையான கல்லறை.
நேற்றிரவு நீதானே என்னை எழுப்பியது
சொல்லு என்ன வேண்டும் என்னிடம்
கேட்கும்போதே உதடுகளுக்கு நடுவே
சொருகி இருந்த சிகரட்
ஒரு கிழவனைப்போல
ஒரு குடிகாரனைப்போல
ஒரு ஆத்திரக்காரனின் கைவிரல்களைப்போல
நிதானமிழந்திருந்ததை கவனித்தேன்
சிகரட் வேண்டுமா என்று கேட்டார்
சொற்கள் சொற்கள் என்று தடுமாறினேன்
என்ன சொற்கள் என்று உறுமினார்
கைதிகள் எல்லாம் குற்றவாழியா
சூரியன் ஏன் அவர்களுக்கு பிரகாசிப்பதில்லை என அழுத்திக் கேட்டேன்
ப்ரெவரின் சொற்கள்
என் காதுகளுக்குள் வரும்
அந்த இடைவெளிக்குள் மின்னலென
வந்து மறைந்தார்கள்
உதிரம் வடிந்து உறைந்த உடம்பில் சீழ்வடிந்தபடி சில போராளிகள்
திறந்தவெளியில் அமர்ந்தபடி
எல்லாமே நல்லபடி இருக்கின்றன
என்று எழுதிக்கொண்டிருக்கின்ற
மற்றவர்களின் பேனாக்கள்
இருட்டறையில் இருப்பவர்களை எழுதுவதில்லை என்று கண்டனம் செய்தார்.
