1. RIVERLINGO

An alphabet a Word or Words

of Riverlingo

dwell in the pebbles on the shore.

Singing the song of Riverlingo

the fish swim happily.

Not enlightened of the wisdom

of language unknown

I sitting there as an alien

am throwing pebbles into the water

absentmindedly.

The fish taken aback and dispersing

assemble the next instant and

mate fondly.

In the stench of my act

the Riverlingo

scowl and sputter.

நதிமொழி

நதிமொழியின் ஓர் எழுத்து

ஒரு சொல் அல்லது சொற்கள்

கரையோரக் கூழாங்கற்களில்

வாசம் புரிகின்றன.

நதிமொழியின் கீதத்தைப் பாடி

நீந்திக் களிக்கின்றன மீன்கள்

அறியா மொழியின் ஞானமறியாது

அந்நியமாய் அமர்ந்திருக்கும் நான்

எவ்வித ஓர்மையுமின்றிக் கூழாங்கற்களை

நீருக்குள் எறிந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறேன்.

திடுக்கிட்டுச் சிதறிக் கலையும் மீன்கள்

கணப்பொழுதில் மீண்டு

கூடிக் குலவுகின்றன

என் செயலின் துர்நாற்றத்தில்

முகம் சுளித்து சலனிக்கிறது

நதியின் மொழி.

2. THE FLYING CARPET

The flying carpet that my heart

in blissful solitude

has woven and gifted me

is always there

in my possession.

For crossing the desert

that in weariness born of

sheer exhaustion

my heart

spreads

as punishment stringent

forever I have the flying carpet

in my possession.

பறக்கும் கம்பளம்

குதூகலத் தனிமையில்

என் மனம்

பரிசாக நெய்தளித்த

பறக்கும் கம்பளம்

எப்போதுமிருக்கிறது என் வசம்.

அலுப்பில் கருவுற்று

வளரும் சலிப்பில்

என் மனம்

தண்டனையாக விரிக்கும்

பாலைவனத்தைக் கடக்க

எப்போதும் என்வசமிருக்கிறது

பறக்கும் கம்பளம்.

3.AN APPEAL TO MY PALS

I beseech you, my friends

Please stop all those acts

that remind me of my aging fast.

Considering you as my pals

I shower upon you frustration anger envy love lust and all

Like you I too

hatch complaints and grievances

and send them around alive and breathing.

Just think

Have I ever offered you

a word of advice?

Instead, you are the one who behave thus

in my interest.

Celebrating drunkenness

feeling heady all the way

to dance to kiss

to tease

to argue

to quarrel to make peace

to shed tears in love's sheer bliss _

I am able to do all these and more

You know too well, for sure.

Yet why do you behave in this manner...?

Maybe I can’t climb the mountain

But, can you for certain?

Still what pleasure do you gain

using this cunning strategy on me

ever again

I know very well

that you would consider yourself

the winner

in your endeavour

by forcing on me this misfortune of

penning this piece

and would wait for a chance

to write a verse on this.

Yet I ask thee

to stop all activities

that insist on

highlighting my ageing, you see.

நண்பர்களிடம் ஒரு விண்ணப்பம்

எனக்கு வயதாகிக்கொண்டிருப்பதை வலியுறுத்தும்

நடவடிக்கைகளைத் தயவுசெய்து நிறுத்துங்கள்

நண்பர்களே

உங்களை நண்பனாக பாவித்துத்தானே

எரிச்சலும் கோபமும் பொறாமையும்

காதலும் காமமும் கொள்கிறேன்

உங்களைப் போலத்தானே நானும்

பராதிகளையும் புகார்களையும் அடைகாத்து

உயிரூட்டி உலவவிடுகிறேன்.

சற்றே யோசித்துப் பாருங்கள்

என்றேனும் உங்களுக்கு

ஒரு அறிவுரையேனும் கூறியதுண்டா?

மாறாக, நீங்கள்தான் என்பொருட்டு

அப்படி நடந்துகொள்கிறீர்கள்.

குடியைக் கொண்டாடவும்

போதையில் குதூகலிக்கவும்

நடனமாடவும் முத்தமிடவும்

நையாண்டி செய்யவும்

தர்கிக்கவும்

சண்டையிடவும் சமாதானம் கொள்ளவும்

காதலின் பித்தத்தில் கண்ணீர் விடவும்

என்னால் முடிவதை நீங்கள் நன்றாக அறிவீர்கள்

எனினும் ஏனிப்படி நடந்துகொள்கிறீர்கள்.

ஒருவேளை என்னால் மலையேற முடியாமல்

இருக்கலாம்

ஆனால், உங்களால் முடியுமா என்பது சந்தேகம்தானே

இருப்பினும் இந்த தந்திர உத்தியை

என்மீது பிரயோகிப்பதில் அப்படியென்ன ஆனந்தம்

இதை எழுதும் துர்பாக்கியத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியதன் மூலம்

உங்கள் முயற்சியில் வெற்றி பெற்றுவிட்டதாக

நீங்கள் எக்களிப்பீர்கள் என்பதையும்

வாய்க்குமானால் இதுகுறித்து நீங்கள்

ஒரு கவிதை எழுதுவீர்கள் என்பதையும்

நானறிவேன்

ஆயினும் கேட்கிறேன்

எனக்கு வயதாகிக்கொண்டிருப்பதை வலியுறுத்தும்

நடவடிக்கைகளைத் தயவுசெய்து நிறுத்துங்கள்.
