1.AUTUMNAL CHILD

The pond lay there

childlike

fast asleep

As a withered leaf swaying in the wind

falls down

the child chuckles in sleep.

இலையுதிர்க் கால குழந்தை

குழந்தை போல

அசந்துத் தூங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தது

குளம்

சருகொன்று காற்றிலாடி விழ

தூக்கத்தில் சிரிக்கிறது

குழந்தை.

(2)A SMALL 'LOVE YOU’

When friends shoulders hug you

While parting with a handshake

Before disconnecting a call so

These days I utter all too easily

Love You

Before Love You

Wherefrom has come this courage

That too, for me…

Terribly surprised

when there are no friends nor calls

I try telling ‘Love You’ to my own self

once in a while.

That I tell ‘Love you’

In different ways to different friends

they know not.

Even if they know

What at all is there in those Love Yous

Except ‘Love You’

But

for me they are

the words of remembrance of

an ancient thirst.

As an acerbic hunting animal

without killing its prey

biting it teasingly

I say “I Love You”.

Going around like this uttering ‘Love You’

proved joyous indeed

till the day I chanced to see

as the shadow of sunny midday

under each Love You

a small

‘Love You’.

இயற்கை

ஒரு சின்ன லவ் யூ

நண்பர்களின் தோள்கள் அணைக்கும் போது

கை குலுக்கி விடைபெறும் போது

அழைப்பைத் துண்டிக்கும் முன் என

இப்போதெல்லாம்

சரளமாக வருகிறது லவ் யூ

லவ் யூவுக்கு முன்னால்

எங்கிருந்து வந்ததோ இந்தத் துணிச்சல்

அதுவும் எனக்குப் போய்

ஆச்சர்யம் மிகுந்து போக

நண்பர்களும் அழைப்புகளுமற்ற வேளைகளில்

எனக்கே கூட அவ்வப்போது

லவ் யூ சொல்லிப் பார்க்கிறேன்

ஒவ்வொரு நண்பரிடமும்

வித்தியாசம் வித்தியாசமாய்

லவ் யூ சொல்வது

அவர்களுக்குத் தெரியாது

தெரிந்தாலும்

அந்த லவ் யூக்களில்

லவ் யூ தவிர என்ன இருக்கிறது

ஆனால்

எனக்கு அவை

ஒரு பழந்தாகத்தின் நினைவுச் சொற்கள்

புளிப்பேறிய ஒரு வேட்டை மிருகம்

இரையைக் கொல்லாமல்

கடித்து விளையாடுவதுபோல்

லவ் யூ சொல்கிறேன்

இப்படி

லவ் யூ சொல்லிக்கொண்டுத் திரிவது

குதூகலமாகவே இருந்து வந்தது

ஒரு நாள்

உச்சிவேளை நிழல் போல

ஒவ்வொரு லவ் யூவின் அடியிலும்

ஒரு சின்ன

லவ் யூவைப் பார்க்கும் வரை.
