On days when Poem is not published

or discussed

the poet remains a good father

or husband.

That there can be no worse lover

than the poet

the beloveds firmly believe.

While translating a poem

of another language

the poet remains the garlanded

dead progenitor

Yes, my friends

Just as a poet did mention _

Seldom does a poet remain one.

ஒரு கவிஞனுக்கு

வார்த்தைகள் பொய்த்துப் போகையில்

அவன் நல்ல வாசகனாயிருக்கிறான்

கவிதை பிரசுரமாகாத அல்லது

பேசப்படாத நாட்களில்

கவிஞன் நல்ல தகப்பனாகவோ

கணவனாகவோ இருக்கிறான்

கவிஞனைப் போல மோசமான

காதலன் கிடையாதென்பதை

காதலிகளே நம்புகிறார்கள்

வேற்றுமொழிக் கவிதையொன்றை

மொழி பெயர்க்கையில்

ஒரு கவிஞன் பூமாலை கிடைத்த

மூதாதைப் பிணமாய் இருக்கிறான்

ஆம் நண்பர்களே

ஒரு கவிஞன் சொன்னது போல

எப்போதாவதுதான் ஒரு கவிஞன்

கவிஞனாக இருக்கிறான்.
