In the Story

History gets smashed and turns into smithereens

At that time every sentence

leads us to all too intense conclusions.

Unable to arrive at any end

readers stand shell-shocked; frozen.

Stopping right there

He returns to the previous pages.

He doesn’t worry about the bulk of the

pages waded through

He begins to read

with no leaning towards any particular religion

The wrapper illustration

appears in the pages being read

and ceases to be.

It gestures a void in the future.

He turns the cover and look.

Everything is erased.

The dialogues are growing fast towards

a vacuum.

They are caught in total darkness

where no way for anything to penetrate.

The page where he had stopped reading

resurfaces.

There remained just one sentence.

That sentence expressed its wish to be

the title of this.

I consented.

Once I cross that page

I would write the rest of it.

இந்தப் பக்கத்திற்கு

நீங்கள் பழையவர்.

கதையில்

நொறுங்கிச் சிதறுகிறது வரலாறு.

அந்நேரம், ஒவ்வொரு வாக்கியமும்

மிகத் தீவிரமான முடிவுக்கு

அழைத்துச் செல்கிறது.

எந்த முடிவுக்கும் வரமுடியாது

வாசகர் திகைத்து நிற்கின்றனர்.

அந்த இடத்தில் நிறுத்திவிட்டு

அதற்கு முன்னுள்ள பக்கங்களுக்கு

திரும்பிச் செல்லுகிறார்.

கடந்து வந்த பக்கங்களின்

அளவு பற்றி கவலைப்படவில்லை.

முன்பு தவறாக வழிகாட்டிய

புத்தகத்தை

மதச்சார்பற்று வாசி்க்கத் தொடங்குகிறார்.

அட்டையிலுள்ள சித்திரம்

வாசிக்கும் பக்கங்களில் தோன்றி அழிகிறது.

எதிர்காலத்தில் ஒரு வெறுமையை

சைகை செய்துகாட்டுகிறது.

அட்டையைப் புரட்டிப் பார்கிறார்.

எல்லாமே அழிந்திருக்கிறது.

வசனங்கள் வெறுமையை நோக்கி

வேகமாக வளர்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.

எதுவும் ஊடுருவதற்கு வழியற்ற

இருளில் சிக்கிவிடுகின்றனர்.

முன்பு வாசிப்பை நிறுத்திய

பக்கம் வருகிறது.

அதில் ஒரே ஒரு வாக்கியம் மாத்திரமே

இருந்தது.

அந்த வாக்கியம் இதன் தலைப்பாக

இருக்க விருப்பம் தெரிவித்தது.

சம்மதித்தேன்.

அந்தப் பக்கத்தை கடந்ததும்

மீதியை எழுதுவேன்.
