After you had got up and left

The seat remains vacant still.

She a recent acquaintance

seems to understand something

Yet she can’t become You.

No matter whoever pleads

some spots can be given away to none

I contend

She who insists on occupying that seat

vacated by thee

argues that friendship is not just an empty word

within word.

These days

when I am wrecked

weary lost and worn out

My hands remain cold.

Yet the all too precious gooseberries

meant for thee,

scattered all over my garden _

I am not ready

to offer them to anybody.

நீ எழுந்து சென்ற பின்

இன்னும் காலியாகவே இருக்கின்றது

அவ்விருக்கை.

அண்மையில் அறிமுகமானவள்

சற்றுப் புரிந்து கொண்டவள் போலிருக்கிறாள்

எனினும் அவள் நீயாகவில்லை.

யாரெவரும் யாசித்தும்

சில இடங்களை என்னால் யாருக்கும்

கொடுத்துவிட முடிவதில்லை என்கிறேன்.

உனதந்த இருக்கைக்கு அடம்பிடிப்பவள்

நட்பு வார்த்தைக்குள் அடங்கும்

வெறும் வார்த்தையல்ல என்கிறாள்

இப்போதெல்லாம்

நான் உடைவுறும் போதும்

சோர்வுறும் போதும்

என் கரங்கள் குளிர்ந்து கிடக்கின்றன

எனினும் ,

என் தோட்டம் முழுதும்

உதிர்ந்து கிடக்கும் உனக்கான

அற்புத நெல்லிக் கனிகளை

எவர்க்கும் கொடுக்க நான் தயாரவதில்லை.
