NEXT TO CAMELS…..

Camels don’t get disheartened by the deserts

They don’t become disconsolate.

They are not frightened by the blowing wind.

they willingly seek and undertake long journeys

with water stored _

They love it all the more.

Whenever there is tornado within

swimming in the tumultuous sea inside

With the boats lost

I invariably think of camels.

Should remain stoic like a camel

I would resolve.

At those times

the camels enduring all adversities

would occupy my mind.

Ho! How strong the camels are physically

Ho! How strong they are mentally!

Ho, I should be like a camel!

Ho! I should be strong like camel!

While I was contemplating thus

My friend, looking at me, asked:

“What is it?”

“Camels are marvelous”

Said I.

My friend responded asking,

“Are they better than

the refugees

crossing the seas

journeying in heavy vehicle carriages

going beyond Time?

ஒட்டகங்களை விட….

வ.ந.கிரிதரன்

ஒட்டகங்கள் பாலைகளைக் கண்டு

துவண்டு விடுவதில்லை;

தளர்வதில்லை.

வீசும் மணற்காற்றுகளைக் கண்டு

அஞ்சுவதில்லை.

நீர் தேக்கி, நீண்ட தொலைவுகளை நாடிப்

பயணிப்பதில் அதிக பிரியம் கொண்டவை

அவை.

உளப்புயல்கள் வீசியடிக்கையிலெல்லாம்,

நினைவுச் சுழல்களுக்குள் சிக்கும்போதெல்லாம்,

அகக்கடலில் படகுகளையிழந்து

நீச்சலடிக்கையிலெல்லாம்

நான் ஒட்டகங்களை நினைப்பதுண்டு.

ஒட்டகங்களைப்போல் நானிருக்க வேண்டுமென்று

நினைப்பதுண்டு.

எவை கண்டும் தளராத

அவை பற்றி அவ்வேளைகளில் சிந்திப்பதுண்டு.

ஒ! ஒட்டகங்கள்தாம் எத்துணை உடலுறுதி மிக்கவை.

ஓ! ஒட்டகங்கள்தாம் எத்துணை உளவுறுதி மிக்கவை.

ஓ! ஒட்டகங்களைப்போல் நானுமிருக்க வேண்டும்!

ஓ! ஒட்டகங்களைப்போல் வலிமையுடனியங்க வேண்டும்.

சிந்தனையில் மூழ்கிக் கிடக்கையில்

நண்பன் எனை நோக்கினான்; கேட்டான்:

"என்ன யோசனை?"

"ஒட்டகங்கள் அற்புதமானவை" என்றேன்.

நண்பன் கேட்டான்

"பொங்குகடல் கடந்து,

பார ஊர்திப்பெட்டகங்களில்

காலம் கடந்து

பயணிக்கும் ஏதிலிகளை விடவா"

என்று.
