REACHING OUT….

Nothing weighs so heavy as the letters

here

In the heart of a mother writing letter to her son

Boils the rice-pan on the oven

The child in separation

reads mother’s affection

with the help of tears.

Going past the creeping and trembling handwriting of Mother

proving impossible

the eyes choke.

Unable to swallow the pain oozing out of the lines

the larynx fumbles.

Being close by

Mother’s innocent language strokes my head.

Converting the piece of paper into

comforting lap

The baby’s cheek sways in cradle

The looking glass steeped in sympathy

smashes the heart into smithereens.

sobbing and weeping uncontrollably

for a while

the grown up child of mother

far away from her _

too many a mile.

கருவறைக் கடிதம்

----------------------------

கடிதங்களைப் போல பாரமானது

எதுவுமில்லை இவ்வுலகில்.

பிள்ளைக்கு கடிதம் எழுதுகிற

தாயொருத்தியின் நெஞ்சில்

கொதிக்கிறது உலை.

அம்மாவின் பிரியங்களை

கண்ணீரால் வாசிக்கிறது

பிரிவுப் பிள்ளை.

நடுங்கிக் கொண்டு ஊர்ந்திருக்கிற

அம்மாவின் கையெழுத்தை

கடக்க முடியாமல்

திணறுகின்றன கண்கள்.

வரிகளில் கசியும் வலியை

விழுங்க முடியாமல்

தடுமாறுகிறது தொண்டைக்குழி.

அருகிருந்து தலை கோதுகிறது

அம்மாவின் எளிய மொழி.

தாளை மடியாக்கிக் கொண்டு

தாலாடுகிறது பிள்ளைக் கன்னம்.

இதயத்தை நொருக்கிக் கொட்டுகிறது

அனுதாபம் வளர்க்கும் கண்ணாடி.

தேம்பித் தேம்பி அழுது முடிக்கிறது

மடி தாண்டி நெடுந்தூரம் வந்துவிட்ட

அம்மாவின் வளர்ந்த பிள்ளை.
