THAMIZHNATHY

Biological Clock stands bewildered

Day and night defined by it

have turned topsy-turvy

As if it has just heard

the departure of someone dear

It stands shell-shocked.

Sometimes the small hand runs chasing

the large hand.

At times one goes past another

circling in opposite directions.

Inside the head of biological clock

queries hundred abound

Why is she having midnight-baths?

Why sleeping during day and

staying awake at nights?

Why taking food at untimely hours?

Causing ill to her health

why is she sitting in front of the TV

Also

Why sun scorching at night?

Why the moon shines radiantly during day?

One day sitting leisurely

and spreading the day

in the manner of a sheet of paper

smoothening its wrinkles and crinkles

and straightening it

should make it understand that

in this land this is Night

and this is Day

Ere I do that

hope the biological clock

concludes not

that I have gone mad.

உடற்கடிகாரத்துக்கு ஒன்றும் புரியவில்லை

அதனால் நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த

இரவும் பகலும் குழம்பிவிட்டன.

நெருக்கமானவரது சாவுச்செய்தியை

அக்கணந்தான் செவியுற்றதுபோல

நின்ற இடத்திலேயே

திகைத்துப்போய் நிற்கிறது.

சிலசமயம் பெரிய முள்ளை சின்ன முள் துரத்திக்கொண்டோடுகிறது.

சமயங்களில் ஒன்றைத் தாண்டி மற்றொன்று

எதிரெதிர் திசைகளில் சுழல்கின்றன.

உடற்கடிகாரத்தின் தலைக்குள்

ஒரு நூறு கேள்விகள்

நள்ளிரவுகளில் இவள் எதற்குக் குளிக்கிறாள்?

பகலில் உறங்கி இரவில் ஏன் விழித்திருக்கிறாள்?

அகாலத்தில் உணவு உட்கொள்வது எதனால்?

ஆரோக்கியத்தைக் கெடுத்துக்கொண்டு தொலைக்காட்சியின் முன் எதற்காக அமர்ந்திருக்கிறாள்?

மேலும்,

இரவில் ஏன் சூரியன் தகிக்கிறது?

பகலில் சந்திரன் ஒளிர்கிறது?

ஒருநாள் சாவகாசமாக உட்கார்ந்து

ஒரு தாளைப் போல நாளை நீட்டி விரித்து

கசங்கல் நீக்கி

இந்த நாட்டில்

'இதுதான் இரவு' 'இதுதான் பகல்'

என புரியவைத்துவிடவேண்டும்

அதற்குள்,

எனக்குப் பைத்தியம் பிடித்துவிட்டதென்ற

முடிவுக்கு

உடற்கடிகாரம்

வராதிருந்தால் போதும்!
