1. THIS POEM….

The concrete demons that flourished

devouring the greenery
have grown sky high…

With the fragrance of varieties of jasmine
that were sent as messengers
to bring the breeze
the stench of all kinds of things
combining…..

The gleaming streams where fishes swam
drying up
turning into lice-swarming hair
so coarse, uncared

Just as the nightmare that assaulted me one night
my place spreads out as
a miserable desert…

For the memories about my place
so deep-rooted inside me
not to be buried along with me
let this poem at least
stay alive in the coming days.

பசுமையை தின்று வளர்ந்த
கொன்க்ரீட் பூதங்கள்
வானளாவ வளர்ந்து ...
காற்றுக்குத் தூதனுப்பி
காற்றை வரவழைத்த
மல்லிகை முல்லை மணங்களுடன்
வந்தான் வரத்தான் மணங்களெல்லாம்
ஒன்றினைந்து ...
மீன்கள் நீந்திய
மினுமினுப்பான நீரோடைகள்
தூர்ந்து போய்
பேன்கள் வாழும் கூந்தல்களாய்
கரடு முரடாகி ...
ஒரு நாள் இரவு
நான் கண்ட
பயங்கரக் கனவு போல
விரிகிறது எனது ஊர்
பாலைவனமாகி ...
என்னில் புதைந்த
எங்கள் ஊர் நினைவுகள்
என்னுடன்
மண்ணில் புதைந்து போகாதிருக்க
இந்தக் கவிதையாவது
இனி ... இருக்கட்டும்

2. INFRINGEMENT

A bamboo grove flourishing tall and dense

stood there elegantly.

Being there with leaves and branches widespread
it restrained the strains of Music that were inherent
in all its swings and moves
contained them within
keeping them locked there
so preserving safeguarding
dreamt of donating them all to an artist
who makes musical instruments.

With its dream not turning true
a carpenter who came there
wrecking the bamboo grove
With the ensuing fire sparks from his knife
scattering around
the bamboo grove set fire
unto its own self
and committed suicide.

++++++ உரிமை மீறல் ++++++

ஓங்கி வளர்ந்த
மூங்கில் காடொன்று
ஒய்யாரமாய் நின்றது
இலை விரித்து
கிளை பரப்பி நின்ற
அதன் ...
ஒவ்வொரு அசைவுடனும்
பிறந்த இசையை
அது ... தனக்குள்
அடக்கி ... ஒடுக்கி ... பூட்டி ...
பாதுகாத்து ... அவற்றை
இசைக் கருவிகள் செய்யும்
ஒரு கலைஞனுக்கு
தானம் வழங்க
கனாக் கண்டது
அது கண்ட கனவு
நனவாகாத நிலையில்
அங்கு வந்த தச்சனொருவன்
மூங்கில் காட்டை
சம்ஹாரம் செய்ய
அவனின் ...
கத்தியில் பட்டுத் தெறித்த
தீப்பொறிகளால்
மூங்கில் காடு
தனக்குத் தானே
தீ மூட்டி
தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டது.

3. THE FORTRESS

I enter into a garden.

Wherever I see
roses aplenty blooming
with fragrance enchanting.
Buzzing beetles coming there
savour the honey sprouting in the flowers
and burst into a colourful dance.

In that grove that beautifies Beauty
Spring swings.

Feeling elated
I look through the cluster of flowers
A thorn
comes into view
pricking my eye.

If this thorn too were bloomed as a flower
How much more lovely this garden would be
- think I
And the thorn replies:
Though I am not beautiful
I am endowed with strength.
The flowers would wither and fall
But I will remain.
It is my strength
that safeguards these flowers
as a fortress.

சோலையொன்றுக்குள்
நான் நுழைகிறேன்
பார்த்த புறமெல்லாம்
உரோசாப் பூக்கள் பூத்து
மணம் கமழ
ரீங்காரமிடும் வண்டுகள்
அங்கே வந்து
பூக்களில் சுரந்த தேனை
உண்டு ... சுவைத்த போதையில்
வண்ண நடனம் ஆடுகின்றன
அழகை அழகு செய்யும்
அந்தச் சோலைக்குள்
வசந்தம் ஊஞ்சலாடுகிறது
எனதுள்ளம் குதூகலிக்க
நான் ...
மலர்களிடையே
பார்வையை நுழைக்கிறேன்
அப்போது ... ஒரு முள்
என் பார்வையில்
குத்தி நின்றது
இந்த முள்ளும்
ஒரு பூவாகப் பூத்திருந்தால்
இந்தச் சோலை
இன்னும் ...
அழகாக இருக்கும் ... என்
நான் நினைக்க
முள் சொல்கிறது
நான் ...
அழகு இல்லாவிடினும்
என்னில் வலிமை இருக்கிறது
பூக்கள் உதிர்ந்தாலும்
நான் உதிர மாட்டேன்
பூக்களுக்கு ...
எனது வலிமைதான்
அரணாக நிற்கிறது.
