THE SOLITARY LOVE-BIRD ‘ANDRIL’

To write the silence of calm

No words there are.

Inclined to have some fruit juice
no cup, nor juice, for
No fruits at all, never mind
But no kitchen to keep the fruits
Nor house to have a kitchen
None to be in the house that is not.

In the one step obtained later on
In the one ray of light
Journeying through the dark
in path untrodden
at the end of it
in the jungle arrived
upon reaching the fruit-trees
where after the parrots and squirrels nibbled
the remaining grown in clusters
no strength left to pluck and squash them
nor the longing to savour

Sitting under the Peepul tree
and closing the eyes
No sleep; nor insomnia.
The tear-drop shed by the lone bird dwelling above
lands on me.

ஒற்றை அன்றில்

அமைதியின் மௌனத்தை எழுத
சொற்கள்தான் இல்லை.

சிறிது கனிச்சாறு அருந்த நினைத்தால்
கிண்ணமில்லை, சாறுமில்லை ஏனெனில்
கனிகளே இல்லை பரவாயில்லை
கனிகள் வைக்க சமையலறை இல்லை
சமையலறை உள்ள வீடுமில்லை.
இல்லாத வீட்டில் இருக்க யாருமில்லை.

பின்னர் கிடைத்த ஒரு தப்படியில்
கிடைத்த ஒரு கீற்று ஒளியில்
இருளினூடே யாரும் நடவாப் பாதையில்
பயணத்தின் பின் அடைந்த ஒரு காட்டில்
கிளிகளும் அணில்களும் கொத்தியது போக
மிச்சமே கொத்துக் கொத்தாகக் காய்த்த
பழ மரங்களை அடைந்த போது
பறிக்கவும் பிழியவும் தெம்பு இல்லை
கனிகளை உண்ணவும் விருப்பு இல்லை.

அரச மரத்தின் அடியில் அமர்ந்து
கண்களை மூடிய பொழுதில்
உறக்கமும் இல்லை விழிப்பும் இல்லை.
மேலே குடியிருக்கும் ஒற்றை அன்றில்
சிந்திய கண்ணீர்த் துளி என்னில் விழுகிறது
