From being 50 feet below ground

Going deeper beyond 500 feet

With unnecessary chemicals

Losing its uniqueness

With its body burnt

Bearing wounds all over

So lies this water!

Spreading carpet

with non-biodegradable plastics

destroying biodegradable trees, plants and creepers

turning sterile, lying dead

with the soil not fit even for microorganisms

to survive

_ So remains this Land!

Swallowing carbon particles

burnt to the core by wildfire

scorched by the missiles thrown

with the greed of capturing a country

Swirling and whirling taking turns

as Lower – Air circulation and

Upper-Air circulation

and so remain endangered

_ This Wind

Remaining as the veritable trash-bin

of Satellites

sent by countries the world over

in the name of developmental research

and, malfunctioning

going round and round

_ that Space called Sky!

The fire spit by the Ozone depletions

that filter the poisonous virulence

resulting in global warming

causing snow-mountain to melt

and the sea-level rising and devouring

the low-lying earth

due to Sun’s heat.

With seasons turning astray

and pouring haphazardly

proving chaotic to the growth thereby

mostly causes massive ruins

_ These Monsoon seasons

and the rains therein.

As fertile lands where paddy was sown

Prove profitable plots

For concrete structures

He who fed the world

Is now struggling to get

Even one square meal a day

Such is the sad state of peasant today.

When things are thus

In order to enable our future generation also

rejoice in the Festival of Pongal

which is a celebration of Nature

At least from now on

Let’s preserve Nature

as our heart so dear

and, worship it

as God - Omnipresent.

மணிவண்ணன் தேவராஜ்

50 அடியில் இருந்து

500 அடிக்கு கீழே போய்

தேவையற்ற வேதிப்பொருள்களின்

கலப்பால்

தனித்துவம் இழந்து

தேகம் வெந்து

புண்ணாகி கிடக்கிறது

இந்த தண்ணீர்!

மக்காத

நெகிழிகளால் கம்பளம் விரித்து

மக்கும் மரம் செடி கொடிகளை வேரழித்து

நுண்ணுயிர்கள் கூட

வாழ

தகுதியற்ற மண்ணாய்

மலடாகி

மரணித்து கிடக்கிறது

இந்த நிலம் !

கார்பன் துகள்களை விழுங்கி

காட்டுத் தீயால் கருகி

நாடு பிடிக்கும் ஆசையில்

எறியும் ஏவுகணை வெடித்தீயில் எரிந்து

கீழடுக்கு மேலடுக்கு என

மாறி மாறி சுழன்று சாகிறது

இந்த காற்று !

வளர்ச்சி ஆய்வின் பெயரில்

அனுப்பப்பட்டு

செயலிழந்து சுற்றி வரும்

உலக செயற்கைக்கோள்களின் குப்பை கூடமாக திகழ்கிறது

அந்த விண்வெளி ஆகாயம்!

விஷவீரியத்தை வடிகட்டும்

ஓசோன்படல சிதைவுகளால்

உமிழும் நெருப்பு

அப்படியே விழுந்து

பனிமலை உருகி

கடல் மட்டம் உயர்ந்து

தாழ்வான

பூமியை தின்றுவிட காரணமாகிறது

சூரியனின் வெப்பம்!

பருவம் தடம் மாறி

தாறுமாறாக பொழிந்து

ஆக்கத்திற்கு உதவாமல்

பெரும்பாலும்

பேரழிவையே தருகிறது

இந்த பருவமழை!

நன்செய் நிலங்களில்

காங்கிரீட் கட்டடங்களை விதைக்க

நெல் விளைந்த நிலங்கள்

விலை நிலமாகி வருவதால்

உலகுக்கே சோறு போட்டவன்

ஒருவேளை சோற்றுக்கு அல்லல்படும் நிலையில் வாழ்கிறான்

இன்றைய விவசாயி!

இந்நிலையில்

இயற்கையை கொண்டாடும்

இனிய பொங்கல் திருநாளை நாளைய தலைமுறையும்

மகிழ்வோடு கொண்டாட .....

இனியாவது

இயற்கையை

இதயம் போல் பாதுகாத்து

இறைவனாக வணங்குவோம்!
