A TREE IN THE TIME OF CORONA

 The tree stands there in

tremendous tolerance.
Drowning it right till the hip
the river is flowing past.
Not even a lone bird is there.
Yet it safeguards the gaps
that the birds and wind would fill up.
The sound of the tree’s breath
is heard so quiet.
From the tree
the river takes away something.
For whom?
May, perhaps, for you

கொரோனா நாட்களிலும் ஒரு மரம்.

மிகவும் பொறுமையாக
அந்த மரம் நிற்கிறது
இடுப்புவரை மூழ்கடித்து
கடந்து ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது ஆறு
ஒரு பறவைகூட அங்கில்லை
எனினும், பறவைகளையும்
காற்றையும் நிரப்பும்
இடைவெளிகளை
தன்னிடம் பாதுகாத்து வைத்திருக்கிறது
மரம் மூச்சுவிடும் சத்தம்
அமைதியாக கேட்கிறது
மரத்திடமிருந்து எதையோ
ஆறு எடுத்துச் செல்கிறது
