Kneeling down and praying

the candle would be lit

Chanting manthras

ghee-lamp, camphor incense sticks would be lit

Moments ecstatic

quivering worshipping

shedding tears

with bodies burnt

as sheer glow

and thus smell also

this is how

“the smells of death of things neuter

are sown and grown in the forms of hues.

So used to do that

we go past

the smells of “tyres”

and those rolled in “polythene covers”

and set afire.

Thirugnanasampanthan Lalithakopan

முழங்காலிட்டு செபித்து ஏற்றப்படும்

மெழுகுவர்த்தி;

பிரார்த்தனைகளுடன் ஏற்றப்படும்

நெய்தீபம்,கற்பூரம்,ஊதுபத்தி.

சிலிர்த்து வணங்கி

நீர் உகுத்து;

பரவசமாகும் கணங்கள்.

உடலங்கள் கருகி

ஒளியாயும்;

வாசமாயும்.

இப்படித்தான்

"அ,ஃ றிணைகளின் மரணத்தின்

வாசனைகள்" நிறமூர்த்தங்களில்

பயிரிடப்படுகின்றன.

பழக்க தோசத்தில்

கடந்து செல்கிறோம்;

"டயர்களின்"வாசனைகளையும்

"பொலித்தீன் உறைகளில்"

சுற்றப்பட்டு தகனிக்கப்படுவோரையும்.
