THE LAST TRAIN

How gifted one is to breathe his last

when asleep

They whisper

What is so great about it, alas _

Should wake him up once

and ask him to die then

An acquaintance of mine

wished to die in the railway station.

Watching the train and ceasing to be

is like the sheer bliss of catching the last train

Tolstoy and A.M. Raja

died in Railway Station only.

In the train Tolstoy got inside

standing all the way

won’t be a problem, I say

For will the dead one’s legs ache.

கடைசி ரயில்

உறக்கத்தில் இறப்பதுதான்

எவ்வளவு அதிர்ஷ்டம் என்று

கிசுகிசுத்துக் கொள்கிறார்கள்

உறக்கத்திலே உறங்கிப் போவதில்

என்ன இருக்கிறது

ஒருமுறை அவரை எழுப்பிவிட்டு

இறந்து போக சொல்ல வேண்டும்

எனக்கு தெரிந்த ஒருவர்

ரயில்வே ஸ்டேஷனில்

இறந்து போக விரும்பினார்

ஓடும் ரயிலை பார்த்துக் கொண்டே மரணிப்பது

கடைசி ரயிலில் ஓடித் தொற்றிக்கொள்ளும் சுகம்

டால்ஸ்டாயும் ஏ.எம்.ராஜாவும்

ரயில்வே ஸ்டேஷனில்தான் இறந்துபோனார்கள்.

டால்ஸ்டாய் ஏறிய ரயிலில்

நின்றுக் கொண்டே போனாலும் பரவாயில்லை

மரணித்தவனுக்கு கால்கள் வலிக்கவாப் போகிறது?
