Please don’t close the door all too tightly

While closing it and opening it

please handle it gently.

Though we remain blissfully unaware of

the wind getting crushed in the window-slit

and weeping

Closing each window forcefully banging it

while opening it

the tiny sparrow that had sat on it a little while ago

screeching

as if feeling its pain

does reach our ears.

Oh Wind!

do stay outside the window, won’t you _

says the tree nearby

The wind alone knows to nod

whatever is said

Though the voice of the wind

which remains raw till date

can be heard by none,

In house sans window

For the wind

wind alone is the very life.

சன்னலை

அழுத்தி மூடாதீர்கள்

மூடும்போதும்

திறக்கும்போதும்

மிக மென்மையாக

கையாளுங்கள்

அந்த சன்னல் இடுக்குக்குள்

காற்றொன்று நசுங்கிக் கேவுவதை

நாம் அறிய முடியாதெனினும்,

ஒவ்வொரு சன்னலை அறைந்து

மூடவும் திறக்கையில்

அதன் வலி உணருவதாய்

சற்று முன் அதன் மீதமர்ந்த

சின்னஞ்சிறு குருவி கீறிச்சிடுவது

காதுகளில் கேட்கத் தான் செய்கிறது.

காற்றே

சன்னலுக்கு வெளியே

இருந்துவிடுயென,

அருகிலிருக்கும் மரம் சொல்கிறது

என்ன சொன்னாலும் தலையாட்ட

காற்றுக்கு மட்டுமே தெரிகிறது

இன்னும் அறிவொன்றும் முளைக்காத

காற்றின் குரல்

யாருக்கும் கேட்காவிடினும்

சன்னல்கள் இல்லாத வீட்டில்

காற்றுக்கு

காற்று தான் ஜீவன்
