As ear-ring

the cow in ripe pregnancy

wears in its one ear

the yellow plastic board

with index number

“What for this marker?”

_ The boy of the greater city

who buys milk in plastic sachets and relish

asks surprised

“This is a cow given by the government

and the index number is marking that”,

explains the present owner of the cow

“Just as the Aadhar card for us

This stud for the cow – right?”

With this voluntary response

He runs off

And thinking of how it regards him

who is under its scanner _

as QR Code

slowly bursts into roaring laughter

His mobile

24X 7

connected with WI-FI....

குறியீட்டு எண் பதியப்பட்டிருக்கும்

மஞ்சள் நிற நெகிழி தகடை

கம்மல் போல

தன் ஒருபக்க காதில்

குத்திக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது

ஒரு நிறைசூல் பசுமாடு

எதற்கு இந்த குறியீடு??

ஆச்சரியமாக கேட்கிறான்

நெகிழிப் பைகளில்

பால் வாங்கி அருந்தும்

பெருநகரத்து பாலகன்

இது அரசாங்கம் கொடுத்த மாடு

அந்த அடையாளத்திற்காக

பொருத்தப்பட்டுள்ளதென

விளக்கம் தருகிறான்

மாட்டின் தற்போதைய சொந்தக்காரன்

"நமக்கெல்லாம் ஆதார் கார்டு போல

மாட்டுக்கு இந்த கம்மல் அப்படித்தானே??"

அவனாக பதிலை கூறிவிட்டு ஓடி விட

தன் கண்காணிப்பில் இருக்குமவனை

க்யூ ஆர் கோடாக பாவிப்பதை நினைத்து

மெல்ல அதிர்ந்து சிரிக்கிறது

இருபத்தி நான்கு மணி நேரமும்

இணையத்தோடு பிணைக்கப்பட்ட

அவனின் அலைபேசி......

Scales so grand

Eyes so real

Hues and shades

Splendid, sparkling

_So drawing a golden fish

In half-an-hour

“Am I to draw a fish- tank

Or a sea”

I ask my son

seeking clarification.

“Why ask me?

Shouldn’t you ask the fish?”

Pat comes the response.

And hearing that

The fish resurrected

pouts its lips

asking for the Sea

மிக அழகான செதில்கள்

தத்ரூபமான கண்கள்

மனதை பறிக்கும் வண்ணங்களென

அரைமணியில் தங்கமீனை

வரைந்துவிட்டு

தொட்டி வரைவதா??

இல்லை

கடல் செய்வதா??

என மகனிடம்

ஐயம் கேட்கிறேன்

"அதையேன் என்னிடம் கேட்கிறாய்

மீனிடம் அல்லவா கேட்க வேண்டும்??"

சட்டென வந்து விழும்

அவனின் பதிலைக் கேட்டு

கடல் வேண்டுமென

உதடுகளை குவிக்கிறது

உயிர் துளிர்த்த கயல்.....
