TWO POEMS BY
RAM PERIYASAMI
Rendered in English by Latha Ramakrishnan(*First Draft)
A book lays plugged into the shore.
For a long time the clock’s Cuckoo
dashing against it with its beak, pecking at it
and pulling it backward
Finding that it is not throbbing
The wind turns the pages one by one
In the shade of the Pendulum
of lunacy unconsolable
My inner world and I
are withering
The two hairpin legs
Intricately entwined
Weakened and frozen
Red Sanders hands
A sinned soul,
As life written in mud
The volume of my heartbeats
I have kept down for a while….
I see the fire of memories
Aflame on the sea…..
As the gullible poet who after
penning a book
perpetually waiting for a review…..
To this universe that has my life
written into a Text
I feel duty-bound to tell
one last thing…. Well _
The Memoirs of my Love
is made of memories make-believe.
----------------&

For the doors opened
without your knowledge
Life might still be
calling thee….
