CINEMA HALL

Silver Screen, My Darling

who showered me with love

immense

when I was passing through

the age where everything proved

mysterious

With the electric lights going off

when the screen turns bright

the first ever wonder of the world

appeared in the retinas.

‘Thenpaandi Seemaiyilae

Thaerodum Veedhiyilea’

The stone-inscription of frames

till date etched in hearts and eyes.

The ‘Mrithyanju Manthra’

extending the life span of

many a quality actor

even after their departure.

A visual mentor

teaching us to cry for the love

and to sob profusely for the death

of someone unknown

and so be humane

The tales of intermissions

with the crackling sound of Popcorn

and the scent of Samosa - and so on

not only the eyes

but the stomach as well

getting filled up

Lord Ammaiyappan

who with the affluent Murugas

going around so easily

showing the world for the poor Vinayakas

right at the spot where they sat

if the one sitting next laughs

we too would laugh aloud

if he claps

we would join him

For two-and-a half hours

No one is a stranger here

Though in OTT we can move back and front

to any scene

The big screen

which can’t be paused

stands unsurpassed.

Though many theatres have

ceased to be

there remains entrenched

in our memory cells

the dream factory...

சினிமா தியேட்டர்

இனம் புரியாத வயதில்

அளவற்ற நேசங்களை

அள்ளி வழங்கிய

வெண்திரை காதலி....

மின்விளக்குகள் அணைந்து

திரைஒளி படர்கையில்

விழித்திரைகளில் தோன்றிய

முதல் உலக அதிசயம்....

"தென்பாண்டி சீமையிலே

தேரோடும் வீதியிலே"

இன்றுவரை மனதிலும்

விழியிலும் பதிந்திருக்கும்

ப்ரேம்களின் கல்வெட்டு....

மண்ணை விட்டு மறைந்த

பல உயர்திணை நடிகர்களுக்கு

ஆயுளை நீட்டிக்கும்

மிருத்யுஞ்சய மந்திரம்....

யாரோ இருவரின்

காதலுக்காக கண்ணீர் விட்டது

இறப்புக்காக கதறி அழுததென

மனிதம் கற்றுத்தந்த

காட்சிவழி ஆசான்....

பாப்கார்ன் வெடிக்கும் சத்தங்கள்

சமோசா வாசமென

விழியோடு வயிற்றையும் நிரப்பிய

இடைவேளை கதைகள்....

பணக்கார முருகன்கள்

எளிதாக சுற்றிவர

ஏழை விநாயகன்களுக்கு

அமர்ந்த இடத்தில்

உலகை காண்பித்த அம்மையப்பன்....

அருகிலிருப்பவர் சிரித்தால்

உரக்கச்சிரிப்போம்

கரகோஷம் எழுப்பினால்

சேர்ந்து எழுப்புவோம்

இரண்டரை மணி நேரத்திற்கு

இங்கு யாரும் அந்நியர்களில்லை....

OTTல் முன்பின் என

எந்த காட்சிக்கு செல்ல முடிந்தாலும்

நிறுத்த முடியாத

அகன்ற திரைக்காட்சிகளுக்கு

ஈடு இணையில்லை.....

பல அரங்குகள்

அழிந்துப்போனாலும்

நினைவுச்செல்களில்

ஆழமாய் வேரூன்றி இருக்கும்

கனவுத் தொழிற்சாலை....
