THE OPPRESSED
Hunger sets him afire
He belongs to no caste
Nor is he controlled by any religion
Not under the dictates of any Party
He knows not VEDAS
He has not read PURAANAAS
Nor learnt ITHIHAASAAS
Has no language
No land
not endowed with the blessing of a house of his own
Knows not what patriotism is
He is devoid of dreams
He blinks at the differentiation
between God and Satan
He has not smelt compassion
Not tasted benevolence
He would toil like beast
and die like worm
He has no identity of any kind
and trails he leaves none behind.
ஒடுக்கப்பட்டவன்
அவனது கண்ணீர் வழிந்தோடுகிறது
அவனை பசி எரிக்கிறது
அவன்
எந்த சாதிக்கும் சொந்தமில்லை
எந்த மதத்திற்கும் கட்டுப்படாதவன்
எந்த இனத்திற்கும் உடைமையில்லை
எந்த கட்சிக்கும் உட்பட்டவன் இல்லை
வேதங்களைத் தெரியாது
புராணங்களை படித்ததில்லை
இதிகாசங்களை அறிந்ததில்லை
மொழியற்றவன்
குரலற்றவன்
நிலமற்றவன்
வீடு பேறு பெறாதவன்
நாட்டுப்பற்று அறியாதவன்
கனவுகள் அவனிடம் இல்லை
கடவுள் சாத்தான் பாகுபாடு புரியாதவன்
கருணையை அவன் நுகர்ந்ததில்லை
இரக்கத்தை அவன் ருசித்ததில்லை
மிருகமாய் உழைப்பான்
புழுவாய் செத்துப் போவான்
அடையாளங்கள் அவனுக்கு ஏதுமில்லை
தடயங்களை அவன் விட்டுச் செல்வதில்லை
வசந்ததீபன்
