MAFAZ

A POEM BY
MAFAZ
Translated into English by Latha Ramakrishnan
(*First Draft)

HEAT

When
we abhor torrential downpour
Heat would increase all the more
When we destroy the forests
Environment gets polluted for ever.
When the peasants’ farming
suffers
The crops would turn dry
Gloom would remain; reign
Light would stay far away
When the bodily heat
would indicate labour
when the sun gulps the sweat
blood would prove a boon.
Climate-borne environment
Water inside the nerve at the neck
has turned a blister and burn
Losing delight
prayers in the household
From Almighty
to pour torrential rain
And the virus of the world to
Be excavated anon
