A POEM BY

How so sweet this life is
Not in the least wishing, yet
with no option left
Except living in this puzzle-ridden world
as our bounden duty
She has fastened herself to it
as the clasp of ‘Udumbu’, the Monitor Lizard.
Making love forsaken
to swell and spring and overflow
smiling all over the world
as a great grand ray of radiance
does she make it glow.
In the lone room
of 8x10 feet
inside the single door tightly shut
saving from suffocation
through the slightly opened window
in the shine of the moon’s ray
attuned to the sound of the
breeze softly floating around
swaying and falling
she brings to life
the creations one by one
through the voice.
In the swing of the lone fingertip
She resurrects the world
Her creation not given the least attention
She safeguards it as treasure-hunt.
Feeling those who have departed
She offers them prayers within.
She keeps chanting as hymns
the follwing lines:
Don’t go seeking your end by yourself
Till the time it comes apart the body
as a separate entity
Life is enchanting.
None save your own self
is your sole support , so true.
Hold onto your own self, won’t you…

• வாழ்தல்தான்
எத்தனை இனியது
வேண்டவே வேண்டாம்
விருப்பமில்லை எனினும்
புதிர் பொதிந்த பூமியில்
வேறு வழியின்றி வாழ்வதைக்
கடமையென உடும்பாக
இறுகப் பற்றிக் கொண்டாள்
புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்ட அன்பை
ஊற்றென மேலும் சுரக்கச் சுரக்க
உலகம் முழுக்க புன்னகையுடன்
பேரொளிக் கீற்றாய்
தவழச் செய்கிறாள்
எட்டடிக்கு பத்தடி விஸ்தீீரண
ஒற்றை அறையில்
மூடப்பட்ட ஒற்றைக் கதவுக்குள்
மூச்சடைத்துவிடாமல்
சற்றே திறந்திருக்கும்
சன்னலின் வழியே
சன்னமாகத் தவழும் காற்றின் ஒலியுடன் இசைந்து
அசைந்தாடி விழும்
நிலவுக்கற்றையின் ஒளியில்
ஒவ்வொரு படைப்பாக
குரலால் உயிர்ப்பி்க்கிறாள்
ஒற்றை விரல் நுனி அசைவில்
உலகை உயிர்க்கச் செய்கிறாள்
கண்டுகொள்ளாமல்
நிராகரிக்கப்பட்ட தன்படைப்பினை
புதையலென பூட்டிவைத்தாள்
விட்டுச் சென்றவர்களை
நினைவால் தொட்டு பூஜிக்கிறாள்
தனக்குள் தானே மந்திரம்போல்
ஜெபிக்கிறாள்
நீயாக முடிவைத் தேடிவிடாதே
உரிய காலத்தில் தானாக
உடலை விட்டுத்
தனியே பிரியும் வரையில்
வாழ்க்கை வசீகரமானது
உனக்கு நீ மட்டுமே துணை
உன்னை இறுகப் பற்றிக் கொள்
