The dust settled

on the plants

along the corners of the by-lanes

branching out of the highway

disband when wagons speed past

as I am in the rear seat of the two-wheeler

the road running backward refused to halt

Inside the car with all four doors glass-shutters

closed

amidst the AC’s mistiness

frozen faces with nil reaction

filled with the expression of speeding in order to

get back that which is given by mistake

making me abandon that which I wished to obtain

at the curve entering inside the highway

a tiny emerald leaf not dust-filled

நெடுஞ்சாலையிலிருந்து கிளைத்து செல்லும் உட்சாலை ஓரங்களில்

செடிகளில் மண்டியுள்ள தூசு

வாகனங்கள் வேகமாய்க் கடந்து போகையில் கலைகிறது

இருசக்கர வாகனத்தின் பின்இருக்கையில் அமர்ந்திருப்பதால்

சாலையின் ஓரம் பின்னோடுவது நிற்க இணங்கவில்லை

நான்கு கதவுகளின் கண்ணாடிகளையும் மூடிவிட்ட

கார்களின் கண்ணாடியின் உட்புறம்

குளிர்சாதனத்தின் மூட்டத்தினூடே எதிர்வினையற்ற உறைமுகங்கள்

தவறுதலாய் தந்துவிட்டதை

கேட்டு திரும்பபெற விரைவது போன்ற பாவம் கவிய

பெற நினைத்ததை கைவிட வைக்கிறது

கிளை சாலையிலிருந்து

நெடுஞ்சாலைக்குள் இணையும் திருப்பத்தில்

தூசு அடராத மரகத சிற்றிலையொன்று.

From the same camera

Ere the same image gets recorded from three angles

Slanting it a little though the tree leaned

The blue above inadvertently gained more depth and density.

The land curving inside me

Turning into roots and entwining

spread horizontally

In the moisture of the sand-cleft

There sprouts the tender leaf of Life.

In order to prevent Time

that eagerly awaits to touch it

In the first ray of light

From slipping away

I could do nothing beyond

reinstating me into a line

in reverse angle.

அதே புகைப்பட கருவியிலிருந்து

மூன்று கோணங்களில் ஒரே காட்சி பதியும்முன்

ஒருபக்கமாக சாய்த்ததும் மரம் சாய்வானாலும்

மேலுள்ள நீலம் தற்செயலாக ஆழ்மையடைந்தது

நிலம் எனக்குள் குவிந்து

வேர்களாகி பின்னி கிடைக்கோட்டில் பரவின

மணல் இடுக்கின் நீர்மையில்

துளிர்த்தெழுகிறது உயிர்க்கொழுந்து

முதல் ஒளிக்கீற்றில் தீண்ட எதிர்நோக்கும் காலம்

நழுவுவதை தடுக்க

தலைகீழ் கோணத்தில்

என்னை கோடாக்கிவிடுவதைத் தவிர

வேறோன்றும் கைவரவில்லை.
