Street Dogs have no Savings bank Account

They neither deposit nor withdraw money

They eat what is strewn on the roads

They need not go to restaurants

The street dog is not in the habit of clothing itself

For all festivals it wears nudity as its dress

Further it doesn’t write story or poem

No need to feel anguished for not having its name

in the Poetry-Symposium.

No need to accept bribe and vote accordingly.

No need to stand behind the politician

and shout slogans.

No need to drink Tasmac liquor

and with liver burnt

breathe his last

nor tumble down at the launching of

movie-monarchs’ new ventures

and make his final departure.

No need to remonstrate against

the venom-filled act of mixing

shit in drinking water

no need to decry those caste-fanatics

who didn’t allow the dhalits inside the temple

No need to print books and release the first copies.

No need to feel low

for the sales being not average, but well below.

No need to be part of the paraphernalia

of self-appointed saviours, mentors and champions.

No need to be at the beck and call of some

For winning award wholesome.

no need to pay currency in bundles.

No need to be known to the P.M or C.M or

Some minister

Dog amidst humans sans tail.

தெரு நாய்களுக்கு வங்கியில் சேமிப்பு கணக்கில்லை

அதற்கு பணம் போடும் பழக்கமோ எடுக்கும் வேலையோ இல்லை

சாலைகளில் பொறுக்கித் தின்னும்

அதற்கு உணவு விடுதிகளுக்கு செல்ல வேண்டியதில்லை

ஆடை உடுத்தும் வழக்கமில்லை

எல்லாப் பண்டிகைகளுக்கும்

ஒரே நிர்வாண உடுப்புத்தான்

மேலும் கதையோ

கவிதையோ எழுதுவதில்லை

கவிதை வாசிப்பில்

தன் பெயரில்லையென வருந்த வேண்டியதில்லை

லஞ்சம் வாங்கி ஓட்டுப் போடத் தேவையில்லை

அரசியவாதி பின்னால் நின்று

கோசம் போட வேண்டியதில்லை

டாஸ்மாக் சாராயம் குடித்து

குடல் வெந்து சாக வேண்டியதில்லை

உச்ச நட்சத்திரத்தின்

பட வெளியீட்டில் விழுந்து

சாக வேண்டியதில்லை

குடி நீரில் மலம் கலந்தவனுக்கு

எதிர்ப்புக் காட்ட வேண்டியதில்லை

தாழ்த்தப்பட்டோரை கோவிலுக்குள்

அனுமதிக்காத ஜாதி வெறியர்களைக் கண்டிக்கத் தேவையில்லை

நூல்கள் போட்டு

முதல் பிரதி வெளியிட வேண்டியதில்லை

புத்தகம் விற்கவில்லையென்ற

கவலையில்லை

ஆசான்களில் பின்னால் சென்று கொடி பிடிக்கும் அவசியமில்லை

விருது வாங்க கூஜா

தூக்க வேண்டியதில்லை

கட்டுக்கட்டாய் பணம் கொடுக்க

வேண்டியதில்லை

பிரதமரையோ முதல்வரையோ

அமைச்சரையோ தெரிந்திருக்க

வேண்டியதில்லை

நாய் வாலற்ற மனிதர்களிடையே.
