- Our Peerless Bard of Pannaipuram
The cloud that came floating in the
Western Ghats!
The threshold of Music eagerly
awaited your arrival!
With the Black and White ‘Annakkili’
singing
parrots of myriad colours
fluttered in our hearts,
The rain that began pouring that day
became Music’s Cherrapunji.
You made the Thavil’s tongue
speak
And that became the backbone of
Tamil Music.
Your breath proved
the very life of Flute.
Your violins
turned alive our roads
into motion pictures.
Your music is the flower
sprouting along our memory lane;
Time’s reflection;
The pendulum-sound of clock;
The serene breeze that caressed us
before sleep.
You touched the Harmonium
and in our arid red sandy soil
an unknown plant
bloomed.
O, Music Maestro
A renowned Tamil scholar
composing 'Venppaa'.
Because of your circambulation
Girivalam turned into a Gramophone.
Hail thee
May you live long
in musical peace and prosperity.
