A POEM BY
THENMOZHI DAS
when some scrape betrayal as salt-paper
In the social space.
When nothing is there to indict
One’s back becomes the white screen
apt for scribbling and stamping
Painful smile
can turn upside down
the lexicons within.
In order to make things
Flawless, untarnished
Better to gulp it all
as the simple ‘Appam’
and move on.
Bizarre preconceptions not only mind’s scribbling
But also the drunkard’s bursting vomit.
Accessing the dark of the lock fitting the key
and having the sharpness of key fitting the lock
are indeed two different things.
The fingers depicting conflicts with enmity
and rolling them in silver-sheets and gifting
are more ghastly than the murderous hand.
It is those chapters
where kissing the cheek
and tearing the heart
not even offering water but crucifying
inserting the finger inside the hip-rib
to ascertain whether there is life
and poked fun at
that became the Great Grand
New Testament.
All ‘Now’ will become ‘Then’

•
புன்னகைப்பதைத் தவிர வேறு வழியில்லை
சிலர் வஞ்சகத்தை
உப்புக் காகிதமாய் சமூக வெளியில்
உரசும் போது
குற்றப்படுத்த ஏதுமில்லாத நிலையில்
வெள்ளைத் திரை
கிறுக்கிக் குத்துவதற்கு ஏதுவான முதுகு
வலிமிக்க புன்னகை
மாத்திரைகளின் உள் அகராதிகளை
புரட்டியெடுக்க வல்லது
குற்றமும் குறையுமற்றதாக்க
எதையும் எளிய அப்பத்தைப் போல
விழுங்கி விலகிச் செல்லுதல் நல்லது
விசித்திர முன்முடிவுகள் மனக்கிறுக்கல்கள் மட்டுமல்ல
குடிகாரனின் அவசர வாந்தி
சாவிக்கு ஏதுவான பூட்டின் இருள்
கண்டடைவதும்
பூட்டுக்கு ஏதுவான சாவியின் கூர்மை
வைத்திருப்பதும் வேறு வேறு
முரண்களை பகை உணர்சியோடு
சித்தரித்து
வெள்ளிக் காகிதத்தில் சுற்றி பரிசளிக்கும் விரல்கள்
கொலைக் கரத்தை விட கொடூரமானது
கன்னத்தில் முத்தமிட்டு
மனதைக் கீறி
தண்ணீர் கூடத் தராமல் அறைந்து
விலாவில் விரல்விட்டு உயிர் உள்ளதா
எனக் கண்டு பரிகசித்த அத்தியாயங்கள் தான்
ஆகப்பெரும் புதிய ஏற்பாடு ஆனது
எல்லா தற்காலமும் இறந்தகாலமாகும்
